Top one is from E15, while lower is from A10 / A12. The E15 has been converted for A series. Note that it is fractionally longer that the A series when comparing shafts.

I was given the converted E15 distributor today. It had been used in a 1200 racer & does not have it's vacuum canister. The diference in length seems not to be a problem, but i want to use the series 2 Bluebird distributor. That way i can standardise the spares with my 200B.

dodgeman if you take a closer look, the A series dizzy has the mounting plate attached and this is what is making the pulsar dizzy longer. To fit the pulsar dizzy to an a series you need to add this mounting plate to the pulsar dissy and weld on a exrta locating tab to secure it to the a series block.
Cheers Steve

Hey has the dizzy had its vacuum canister removed or it never had one. If it never had one its an E15turbo dizzy and doesnt have centrifugal advance either as all are controled by the E15turbos ecu

You are probably right on the money wirh the plate thickness thing.
The vacuum can looks to have been removed. I removed the cap & could not see any bobweights, but the rotor could be moved, against spring pressure, while the shaft was locked, so i guess it isn't a turbo one
This was being used, as is, on a dirt track speedway racer. [no spacer to lift it up a tad]

Has the slot where the bolt goes through the housing to attach it to the block been redrilled in further? On pulsars ths slot is out further and this is why the mounting plate has to be attached and the extra tab welded on.
Could the modified plate have been left on the engine?

The curved slot is actually about 1/4 of the bolt hole diameter too close in. This is in the cast in adjustment & mounting lug. It looks like the timing was set, then a small round file was used to open a small half round indentation in the outer edge of the slot in the right place [three times] to allow the bolt to drop in.

If the original distributor plate was used, it would have been lined up with this slot & used as a spacer only. The fellow who gave it to me does not remember a plate being used, & he removed it from the engine.

The vacuum canister was removed, so, in the event that this would have otherwise hit the block, preventing fitment, then this possible problem did not arrise.

Ok cool. sounds right. I will post a pick of a modified mounting plate and if used it will mount the dizzy in a position as to prevent the vacuum cansitor from fouling on the block

why don't you a series guys just get the distributor out of a fwd pulsar, my misses had one ages ago, A14 fwd, and it had electronic ignition, i can try and find a piccy of the car to show which pulsar
