 Re: stanza struts
i just installed a set of sanza struts in my CA18det coupe, the strut that is just sitting there was the standard strut(i think??) with very small brakes.
After my run out at Mt cotton last month i deicided to improve the cars braking ability, and hopfully i have rectified the problem(i hope!!!!)
I also installed a 120y sway bar which is slightly thicker(20mm opposed to the standard 17mm) which bolts straight up, no modification needed, so hopfully the handleing will be improved.
I still have to bleed the brakes, and then i'll take it for a test run tomorrow, and then we'll see how it is, i'll give you a full analysis!

i notice in your engine pic that you already have a brake bosster installed, was this to try and improve the stopping power of the STD 1200 Brakes??

 Re: stanza struts
are you kidding us
you fitted a ca18det with std brakes = fool
std brakes on Mt Cotton = fool

OK for all beginners , please do the brake upgrade BEFORE the power upgrade it really is cheap insurance !! and more fun , less scary moments .

on closer inspection they dont look like std brakes , but they dont look any bigger either, the stanza ones still look much bigger

The smaller brake one looks like the australian assembled datsun 120y brake:

What are these brakes?

I was surprised it had been engineered on the std brakes. But credit to Steveo, he fixed it as soon as he saw it was a problem.

I'm sure you'll notice the difference the first time you drive it mate And definitely at Mt Cotton.

Boosters actually don't improve braking performance at all, they just decrease pedal effort.

 Re: stanza struts
Sunny, Stevo bought the car with the CA already installed... (good choice) and he is endeavouring to fix it and doesnt exactly need anyone on this site calling him a fool for asking a question so pull your head in...

Stevo, you would probably need to go on level in braking performance again for any track work etc, but they will be fine for the hillclimbs and supersprints and street.
For an idea of next level braking goto www.datrats.com and look at Ferals serious brake package # 1 $995 will get you out of trouble for long term.

(BTW my Stanza brakes work fine all day on a track day at Wakefield raceway with a warm A series)

WELL SAID CONVERTED!!!!!!!
Yes it is true, i bought the car with the brakes already on it, so call the fella i bought it off a fool! And pull your head in!!!!!!
They're actually the same brakes that i have on my ute( the std brakes). for everyday use they were fine, but when i went out to mt cotton last month it was a bit dodgey under brakes coming down the hill.
I took harrys(L18B110) advice and actually
re-drilled the bolt holes and moved them outwards, so that it'll give me more neg(-) camber, we'll see how that works! i was told about fitting 180 disks to the stanza struts, i'll do that just not in the near future!
