You dont do jobs in halves do you dodgeman, good to see progress, will be better to see it finished.

Keep the cheque book open and you'll be suprised how fast jobs can get done

Well thanks for the encouragement blokes, i feel all warm & fuzzy inside now.
I'm in too deep to stop now, so i gotta follow it through to the end as a car in bits like this is worth nothing.

I have been keeping the bankbook open & wow, my god how the money just dissapears. This is the point where it looks its worst, but with new paint it will be well on the way there,... for just a few dollars more, again. [sigh]

The chequebook doesn't actually exist [i've never owned one] I pay cash, that way i know when it's all gone, & it's going fast as i have other irons in the fire.

I'd love to pop over, but as for the chequebook,..... sorry.

This project isn't the one that wories me. This one is the practice project for the '33 coupe.
I am working so much to pay for everything that i have had three days off this year & today [sunday] isn't one of them.
The '33 will cost about four or five times as much as this as i will need to build a solid body from a wooden framed skin, or shell.

Everything for the hemi will need to come from South Carolina, which means that i will need to freight it across the US before it can depart for Australia.

Wanna buy a kidney?

Thanks very much for your offer & i may well take you up on it. The Hemi is a '57 Dodge 325 cube D500 option & if you send me a blank e-mail i can talk to you direct, as this is a Datsun forum & we probably shouldn't muddy the waters with Mopar talk.

Looking foward to hearing from you.

Once the paint is on, you'll remember why you started. And a strong feeling of worthwhileness and fulfillment will ease your aching wallet.
For the more impoverished among us, (like me) It can be a real struggle to keep your eye on the prize, when you have to do it all yourself.

Re: Getting rid of nasty blemishes
After a minor delay, work has restarted on my coupe. All previously visible body seams will be retained, but those unsightly acne marks [spot welds] are being removed.

Hopefully it's a mod that won't be readily noticed, but contributes to the overall feel of a quality job. The less noticeable an improvement is,.. the better i like it.
Unfortunately, i didn't realise how much labour is involved [at $$ per hour] Ahhh what the hell,.. it's only money [sob sob] I'l get over it,.. eventually. This cosmetic work has extended to the whole engine bay.

Will you be bothering with having it seam welded while its like this?
It will be a real little pearler when she's all finished.

Re: Getting rid of nasty blemishes
It has been seam welded in the all important front chassis area & this can be seen in some of the earlier photos in my photo album.

I say "all important" front chassis area as i have had a real good look at the structure of these things & they were quite strong enough for a stocker, but may be a bit margonal for something with sporting pretentions. I now know why 1000's are so light & i realise that strength will come from welding everything together properly.
