The front spoiler was $185 AU delivered to your door from memory. the guy in canberra just needs notice, it took about 1.5 weeks.

I had to modify the one on my car due to the car being lowered and using larger circumfrence tyres.
also if you didnt notice, i havent had it painted up yet, cant decide whether to paint it silver or blue?

 Re: Bennys Coupe Front Angle
where did you get that front spliter/spolier from?
how hard were the skyline brakes and calipers to fit?
would using the A12 flywheel with an A15 and a sunny 5speed help? with standard A15 clutch?

the spoiler is from canberra car styling.

the brake setup was tricky, but quite easy once i worked out what nissan bits i needed (ie hub with the right offset). as well as a strong and safe way to mount the calipers.

changing the flywheel was always one of the first things i did when working on the larger A-series engines. I found the response change considerably noticable

if you get the chance, weigh the flywheel off an A12 and A15. you will find a considerable difference in weight. the theory behind it , i guess is that you arent wasting power trying to spin up a heavy wheel hanging off the crank.

Correct me if im wrong (as im sure you guys would) the coprimise is that when using a lighter flywheel you lose some of the enertia a heavy flywheel would provides, keeping the engine rotating.

Cheers

 Re: Bennys Coupe Front Angle
the way i see it is if you dump the clutch putting a high load on the flywheel you will rob so much momentum (because light weight low momentum) that the engine will slow down noticably, do you find that happens

this is what i concocted in my head not from experience!

formula from school
momentum = weight *velocity

its basically going to be the same principle for something rotating but diffrent terms and more variables

i.e. angular velocity and distance from centre

I found the engine to rev up quicker, as well as the revs dropped off quicker during gear changes ready for the next gear to drive through the rev range.

Cheers

the spoiler looks good that color so if you made it a matching silver i reckon it would look better than blue

*Canberra Car Styling*
That is their web page. They ahev sorts of cool stuff for older cars there...
And suprise they have updated the 1200 picture to one where you can acutally see the front spoiler.

VERY sweet!!!
theres been discussion of a-14 vs. a-15, just wondering why you choose a-14?
what profile tyre you running with the trx 15's?
do you know by any chance what size chokes are in your webers?
love the paint colors!!! and the spoiler
is the sss badge off a kiwi 1200 sss or is it off a stanza or 180b or something like that?

The A14 was the motor i had already, its quite revvy. I good tip is to use a fly wheel off and A12 (they are considerably lighter) I machined off the extra weight the an A12 flywheel, doing this improved the engines response

I havent run an A15 yet, but im building one at the moment. I guess it will be a little better pulling out of tight corners (more torque). I have a mate who has an A15, taken out to 1608cc's, he is more that happy with the end result.

tyres on the front are 185\580\25 dunlop slicks (i swapped 8 tyres from the old group A TRD colloras that run at bathurst in the early to mid ninties) for a case of beer.

tyres on the back are 195\55\15 toyo slicks

regular road tyres are 195\55\15 falken azenis as well as 185\50\15 pirelli p7000

chokes in the webers are 33's

the badge is off 1200sss in NZ

Do you drive in city traffic? If so, how does the 4-puck ceramic clutch work out? Or is that strictly for racing?

Yeah i do, the clutch has been in for 2 years now. Believe it or not the pedal is quite moderate, not heavy at all. The friction coeffecient is awsome, doesn't slip (its on or off), Being made of ceramic, the driven plate doesnt seem to heat up as much as a regular driven plate. I have driven it very hard on the track and it still feels good.
The flywheel, driven plate and pressure plate cost me $350 AU from KB clutch eng at Penrith, a few years ago though. well worth it i reckon, i havent had any clutch problems since.

Cheers

so you bought a dog clutch then why didnt you get a normal friction one?
what horse are you roughly making in this engine now?

Sounds like blast to drive! I reckon you need to rev it up a little to get it going without stalling the engine. Nice job on the paint too, silver is always a good choice, but rare on a 1200.
