Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R :
In 1969 the first generation Skyline "GT-R" was introduced to win the JAF Japan championship. The GTR is powered by S20 L-6 1989cc DOHC 4valve with 40PHH Solex carburettor that makes 160PS. Top speed is 200km, and 0-400m is 16.1 seconds. In 1970, the 2-door coupe GTR was introduced. The driving performance has also been improved by having shortened the wheel-base and lightweight-ized. The interior of the design unified black was equipped with bucket seats and 6-meters. The KPGC110 GTR which is called 'KENMERI' is GTR of the phantom by which only 197 units were produced. The KENMERI GTR carried on with the S20 24 valve L-6, along with its 160PS. Also the GTR is equipped with a exclusive black grill, FRP over fender, and 4-wheel disk brakes.

The first model Skyline GT-R used the S20 engine as well as the Fairladyz 432-R.

Cheers

I dont want to be a fuss-pot, but.........

I cant take the credit for this info, as i sourced it of the net

The line didn't get much of a change until after Princes merger with Nissan. From July to September of '68, the New C series Skylines were introduced. The first was the New C10 1.5 liter G15 powered 1500 Sedan, with the Skyline 2000GT(GC10) G18 1815cc engine following.

1969 Skyline 2000 GT-R

Then came the first of the Skylines that would form the Skyline Legend, the Skyline 2000 GT-R. Introduced in February 1969, the GT-R(PGC10) benefited from the development of the R380 program. This car was powered by a S20(not to be confused with the later SR20DET) in line DOHC 6 cylinder, 24 valve, twin cam triple 2 barrel side draught monster, developing 160 horsepower at 7000 rpm and racing to a top speed of 200 km/h.

This was followed by an upgraded Standard Skyline, the PC10, a 1.8 liter G18 powered car in August '69, then the Skyline GC10 2000 GT 4 door sedan with a single overhead cam version of the SR20 inline 6 producing 105 to 120 horsepower depending on options. Skyline also had a GT-Xi line of 1500 and 2000 cars before the whole line was once again restyled.

71 GT-X

The fourth series of Skyline began production in September '72 with 5 different versions of the new C110 style. 1.6, 1.8 and 2 liter engines powered the various different model levels.

73 Skyline 2000 GT-r KPGC110

The top level was held by the Skyline 2000 GT-R, the new KPGC110, with the same 160 horse S20 engine of the previous GT-R. This GT-r was actually introduced in January of '73 and is one mean looking Skyline.

1977 210 series 2000GT-E-s

The line continued pretty much unchanged until August 1977, when the 5th series C210 line up took over. The lowest level C110 Skyline had been phased out in October 1975, so the C210 line only had 4 levels instead of the 5.

1980 2000GT-Es

83 2000RS

The line was refreshed once again in August 81 with the new R30 series, a rather boxy boring group of Skylines. It would take several years before the R32, R33, and R34 series

Cheers

cut a long story short... the only two Skylines to use this S20 engine everyone's interested in were the C10 and C110 GTRs

I laughed when I saw the word "kenmeri," because it appears to be a Engrished version of Ken & Mary, which were the young man and woman depicted in the Skyline ad campaign of the early 70's.

Nuther bit 'o triva ...

Just out of curiosity does anyone know if this model was raced with a turbo also?
I guess not, but in GT2 you can get 380 hp from it with a bolt on turbo.

Yes, It seems that Sylvia is not a commonly used name in Japan (outside of cars, that is!), because all the dictionaries translate シルビア as "sill beer" instead of Sylvia.

Not to nitpick, but...

This would be an L20, not a G18

I know you meant S20... but the single cam engine you're referring to is again the L20. I know you probably cut and pasted this from a different site, just wanted to clear it up.

The way I heard it was G18 1969-1972, L20 for 1973.

I'm not an expert (we need Lachlan!) but ...

The short hood C10 used G series not L4 motors, but I haven't seen a pic of a C110 short hood motor so I'm not sure there.

L20B gasoline engines were not available in the JDM, so lets be sure to call the 6cyl the L20A not just L20.

Also, it seems the GT or GTX model designated an L6 not the 4cyl which were short hood cars.

The C210 short hoods did use the L4.

Also, "kenmeri" refers to any C110 Coupe, because the ads didn't have the happy couple driving a GT-R.

Also2, "hakusuka" is the C10 Coupe which is what's in the image Benny originally posted.

I hope this adds to the confusion

yes the c110 short hood used the G series 4cyl

url

but they could've also used the L4 on later cars
