I had some spare time at work. I made the adapter and stick to move the fulcrum point up about 1.25"/31.75mm. The stock shifter moved about 6-7" from 1st to 2nd, now it moves only 3". Side to side movement is still the same as before. It has taken me a few days to get used to. The throw is so short, it's difficult to go from second to third and from fourth to fifth.
I tapped the original holes for the fulcrum pin with an M10x1.5 and used short flathead/countersunk M10 screws to mount it.

Thats some pretty tidy work there!

We used to do this too but all we did was cut just below the fulcrum pin in the round part. then just weld in a piece of 3-4mm steam pipe 1 - 1 1/2 inches long then weld the fulcrum back on top. and then on the stick we cut the bottom off and extended it the same amount and then welded the ball back on.
( same thing just welded on for good!)
But yours looks good enough to sell!

so in essence all i have to do is make something so the pivot point is higher and extend the legs on the box and extend the shaft by the same amount?

If you are interested we have them for sale to fit most datsun gearboxes. They are CNC machined, with new Nissan bushings and chrome finish. The shifter thread is the same as original, so you standard knob will fit.
The shifter reduces your throw from 1st-2nd to about 90mm, which is about 40mm shorter than standard.
