Yea i just replaced my inserts but used KYB gas 1s instead. Work great and lighter but have a lot harder ride.

That's righ -- gas charged struts and shocks are no good for street 1200s.

The original struts are designed to be rebuilt, you just change the oil, valve and seal.

For the rears, the "black" KYBs (OEM Nissan part) have the smoothest ride. It seems that most aftermarket shocks are designed to fit several models (like B210) and those cars are much heavier than the 1200.
