 Re: SSS weber manifold
I would have a stab and suggest that the SSS is for an Aussie company called SSS Automotive that got heavily into Datsuns and Nissans through the 80's. As Dodgeman has said all the SSS 1200s had stock round port heads as standard equipment.

 Re: SSS weber manifold
no other markings on it. The guy I got it off reckons it was nissan, hence my interest. It would appear he was mistaken.
Either way it'll do the job

while on the topic of webers, I've got the pair that came on this manifold (look like crap but tuned for the motor) and a better looking set not suited to the motor, I would like to get a list of the things I'd have to swap over to get the good webers tuned for the a14.
I've got an exploded diagram but I'm not sure of all the bits.
Any help appreciated,

Tyrie

Is there any more markings on the manifold?

If this is for a 1200, it is a petty that the SSS did not come out with webers, other than that nice.

So the SSS used a GX head?

 Re: SSS weber manifold
As has been writen several times before, the NZ built Datsun 1200 SSS & 120Y SSS were based on a standard vehicle that was built up & modified by outside workshops for the New Zealand Datsun Distributors.
The engine therefore was fitted with the standard model's round port head. I don't know if it was the recipient of any attention to the ports, but modified or not. those ports were round.

This manifold is an interesting aftermarket item that seems to use the letters SSS as both a 'model name' & a sales gimmick.

I just got another a14 with webers, the manifold looks very similar, but has "GX" where the SSS is on this one. any ideas?

Also has a H891 head with double vale springs

Your newly aquired manifold, like the SSS one, simply uses the letters GX as both a model name, & to indicate that is fits a GX cylinder head. [& any other head with the same bolt pattern & similar port size/ shape]
Again, a sales gimmick, & why not. If it helps to sell product, or to impress your friends, [or both] all the better.
