 Re: 1200 front bar
come on 120fly, insead of editing your earlier post, this is your chance to do the right thing and put him onto the guy who actually designed it and has been selling them for years. you know, the guy you bought it from. the guy who also makes flares which Gypsy is also interested in.

btw, this particular front spoiler is designed to fit snugly up to those flares.

after all geoff, if you didn't post it up here to sell them yourself, you must have done for our mate Steve, hey?

a number of long-standing members have bought flares from Steve and I'm sure they will vouch for the fit and quality of those parts. Actually if you search the forums you will already find those kind of comments from them. And I can show you plenty of pics of how well this spoiler fits 1200's.

Hey L18_b110 I havent edited any post lad ..And quit honestly I wont be making the flair kits as youve said theres people out there already making them so no point me doing them as well .....DONT take offence to this mate , people have been asking for flairs ,bars, scoops, and fibreglass parts on this site even before I became a member .........
Ive got no problem with putting people onto other glass manufactures why havent people mentioned them before I came along thats got me beat...L18_b110 you would probly get them cheeper than me being in the motorsport side of things for so long ....

I've got no problem with you making whatever bits and pieces you want geoff . nothing wrong with some competition. just design your own stuff instead of looking for a free ride, ripping off other people's gear.

so why did a bloke who's starting a fibreglass business and advertising that front spoiler would be available after christmas, post up a pic of someone else's front bar spuiking for interested people who might want room for an intercooler? hmmm, call me cynical...

I'd be careful there mate. That bar is designed, manufactured and sold by another local business.

bagging other people's work and announcing on the internet that you are about to make knock-offs of their gear and sell them through your business is pretty poor form.

 Re: 1200 front bar
Harry mate you got me all wrong .......Ive worked in qld f/glass industry fior 6 years and you will find Im very well LOVED and looked after buy these people.
Theres also 3 other glass manufacturers in qld and 1 in melb who makes these front bars ....who said i was making the same bar ..IF i was going to sell that bar dont you think id just get old mate to make them for me at a cost.. and sell for a profit ...........thats what abuisness does .....
The idea of flopping that bar is a waste of time and stupid and insulting to say in the least Why would i make the same bar when 4 other companies sell them in australia ....
All that was stated about the bar was it fitted crappy and room for the intercooler ..thats what the bloke said so please tell me where ive gone wrong ...
Ive also got two other bars coming from melb for datto 1200 and 1600 ,side skirts
even R33 skyline parts such as carbon fibre door skins ............................

120fly if you want to make a locally produced front bar for a 1200 make one of these...they are superb...

Here are some pics..
I particulary like the integrated front bar.
If you made one of these for about $150 I would buy one for sure.

 Re: 1200 front bar
dunno but i dont reckon it wouldnt save that much weight just the door skin. Youd have to have a full carbon door and perspex window. that would be a great weight saver.
Carbon bonnets and guards for 1200's arent that much lighter than the factory units.

 Re: 1200 front bar
Yeh your right abouthe carbon fibre skins wont help much on the door weight factor mostly the the look is what they want most drifters go ape on the carbon stuff I doint know why its just what they like i guess ...
As for fittng the skins you will be shocked how they do it they boys .they buff the metal skin and silicon the carbon fibre skin to it they honestly look quit good .....Believe me icant work it out either
why they do it that way just adds weight .But the drifters love it which is fair enough..........

If you Aussies can wait till after Xmas, the kiwi spoilers will again be available. Bryan Roycroft has lost interest in doing this stuff but good keen man Morgan, NZDATMAN has grabbed a virgin spoiler off me to start making them again. I have also donated aGX bonnet to be used for a mould.....watch this space.

 Re: 1200 front bar
I won't be making a start before January some time, till the silly season is well behind us. I will make one for myself first off, nut it out then will look at making more after that. At this stage I will be making the front airdam first, then I will do a rear bumper (coupe bumper), then a GX bonnet. Later I may make up some guards with integral flares, like the big ones on my coupe.

Work keeps me pretty busy so it will have to fit in around that. converted I don't think there is any chance of getting one landed in aussie for A$150 unfortunately! Importing those springs/shocks cost a fortune in freight!

 Re: 1200 front bar
these front spoilers bolt up to the bumper bar and will fit all 1200s, but it is designed to fit up to the front flares Steve makes, so it will look silly without them.

There are other options though. The front spoiler on my old coupe can be fitted with or without flares, and is high enough to be practical for street use. Also fit all 1200s.
http://datsun1200.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=328

There are other front spoilers I've seen like on Demojobs coupe http://datsun1200.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid

Looks like he's got the universal type flares on his coupe too. JTS sell flares like these for a more subtle look than the flares Steve makes designed to the limit of the IPRA rules. here's a pic of a very schmick NZ coupe with that style flare http://datsun1200.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=112

either kind of flare can be fitted to a sedan, but it does involve more work with the more complicated rear wheel arch opening and door opening on the rear. Flare will need to be cut to allow the door to open too. Here's a pic from when I race taped my flares onto a mates sedan for a look http://datsun1200.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=4867

Thanks harry for that im not to good at explaining things to well .yes as i spoke to steve today he explained the stuff hes complied too.To make a spoiler to the racing regulations very limited to what you can do from a designers view .was interesting and iwas (confused ) wowed and spunout ...As you know i havent had much to do with the road racing ..The bar I will be supplying will be more of a pretty bar than any race pupose and wont pass racing standard but will abide by the road rles and regulations .........
