Re: 11000 rpm crank gains have been very good as in fast pickup etc ,also pistons are very lite also .all work was done by hand but well worth it ,its a forged crank.

Re: 11000 rpm crank bet you dont pick these up at your local auto shop!! have lightened the pistons at all? that would have some serious piston speeds

Re: 11000 rpm crank Thats a serious looking crank! Do you mind if i ask exactly what performance gains you have made by doing all this work?? Was it all done by hand or was there some lathe work as well??
I guess you run the E15 rods in an A12 block??!!?? Was it a forged crank or a cast one that you started with ??

Re: 11000 rpm crank as for rods u are better to put mazda rods with a higher pin height on the pistons to get more punch

Re: 11000 rpm crank Hmmm... this is very interesting. What year model 323's for the rods? Are they forged? Any lengths or widths? THey would be 20mm piston pins right? Wo why the toyota pistons, not the 323 pistons ??

Re: 11000 rpm crank i think it was about mid 80s .cant recall length of the rod as i dont use them anymore, and toyota piston as the pin is higher in the piston so it fits in the block ,gives u more easy rpm

Re: 11000 rpm crank cost for something like this?
40mm journals!!!! Original is 45mm? that means if you offset ground 5mm a 75mm stroke is possible and with 77mm pistons you could have a forged bottom end 1400cc engine. However does anyone know if the a12a can get 77mm? or is it better to use the a14 blocK? This crank is awesome!

Re: 11000 rpm crank The A12A cylinder block should quite happily bore out to 77mm as it has a 75mm bore to start with. The factory offers three oversizes in half mill increments, so the top standard oversize is 76.5mm. Pushing it another half a mill should be a doddle.
My 1200 block has been bored from 73mm out to 76.5mm & has been run like that for a full service life, so there should be enough meat in the A12A
