 Re: L series crossmember
I'm using Cortina mounts. They are simple, strong, and are popular with bigger conversions than L20 so no probs. I did modify the mounts bolted to the block however to get the engine lower and to have the rubber mounts in as little shear as possible.
Cheers

Looks good I wish IPRA rules allowed us to modify crossmembers - job would be soooo much easier. Are you using original mounts or going for cortina ones? Keep us posted!
Cheers

Aftermarket cortina mounts seem to be effective on most 1200 power upgrades. I use them in my rally car and they last many events. When ever I hear of them failing (usually in harsh conditions) its usually a split in the polyurethane and can be solved by bolting a cleat around the mount to limit its movement but still allows the mount to flex.

Theres a pic in "my Photos" if you need to check them out. I am sure this topic has been covered before so let the search bar be your friend. You will probably find the exact part number in the old posts as well.

I have an L20 in my 1200 coupe. I am using a stanza sump and skyline (r30 I think) mounts. I didn't need to modify the sump. The L20 sits under the bonnet with the oil pump clearing the 120y swaybar. I can post some picks if anyone is interested
cheers
Bruce

I used the Stanza engine mounts. They're plenty strong enough.

good to see another L20 1200 coming along!

 Re: L series crossmember
im just using standard 200b mounts, but the mounts on the engine have been modified to sit the engine lower, or in my case give more mount on the crossmember

im pretty sure the sump to use is from a 4x4 petrol 720, im hoping to go searching wreckers soon to see what the sumps look like, if they are the same as the pics on this site somewhere

i didnt really need to cut anything out of the crossmember, but the position that the engine was in gave no room at all b/w sump asnd crossmember, engine could have been moved up slighty to resolve this
but cutting the crossmember is so much cooler

Hehehe, I spent all of easter last year doing an L20B conversion on my 310 coupe. We removed the peice of flat off the bottom and replaced it with a bit of 10mm plate. The reccess went deeper than yours. It sat so low we had to modify the sump to clear the drag link. The 910 sump already has the shape needed, so I found out after modifying mine.

 Re: L series crossmember
if you look at my other pics you can see that where the engine sits is about as low as it can go, it is a few mm b/w engine and steering tierod
and i think that the oil pump will only just sit above the sway bar

with out taking the middle out of the crossmember the sump would have no room to move at all, only really needed to take out about 10mm but i thought i should give it plenty of room
