Finally got some proper wheel nuts and caps for the TRX rims so gave them a test fit 2nite. (Excuse the photo it was taken in poor light.)

 Re: TRX rim test
Quick test fit tonight. I love the look. Especially with the ride height in the back. The plan is to sand blast the rims as im a fan of all alloy look and it should suit the colour of the car(all white). And ive finally got a good width rubber that doesnt scrub thanks to the offset.

Car progress: All major rust cut and welded up. Just a few minor(minor as in pinholes) to fix up as i find them due to it all going back to bare metal inside and out. At least i know ive got rid of at least 98% of it this way. Doors/bonnet and boot are all back to metal and are currently been straightend out. In the next two weeks the body should hopefully be all bare metal, rust gone and all primed. Its finally going somewhere.

Cheers
Daniel

so u dont have spacers at the back, i had to use 8mm spacers with 195/50s as they would scrub when taking fast corners
ie. body rolling

Paint stripper. I can almost taste it.
I wont be running spacers. There is a fair bit of clearance there. Ive already massaged it once before. And with the stiffness there shouldnt be much body roll.

The plan is to sand blast the rims
Don't 'sand' blast the rims as this will ruin the texture of the surface of the metal. Sand is a very angular abrasive that is much better suited to removing rust from steel & it will dig into the surface of soft aluminium leaving a very rough finish. This rough finish is more prone to corrosion too.

My local abrasive blaster had a wide range of blasting materials & has always done right by me, so let your local bloke recomend a suitable material for the job.
For small stuff, I have always prefered glass beading, but for wheels, there will be an even better choice.

Thanks dodgeman. But what about just light blasting from a decent distance. Basically just to get that all alloy look. What about sugar blasting.(is it softer than sand)

If you have a professional abrasive blaster in your area, then let him make a recomendation after you tell him what you want.
After all, he is [hopefully] the professional.

Some blasters even run plastic beads on soft materials.
