hello all..

it seems that i go through a full tank of fuel everyday just to get to work... cost me $30 bucks a day to drive 45 min each way

i was thinking and yes it did hurt. could it be the diff ratio or the fuel tank...

the fuel tank is standard and i think its like a 30L tank which is not much....

i was wondering if anyone has done a fuel cell that fits into the tray and if so where did u get it from and do u need a engeriner cert ????

also whats the standard diff ratio for a 1200 ute ??? i might be able to change it so its crap down low but good on a long distance...

doing 100kph in a a12 4 speed sitting on like 5 grand revs just chews through the fuel... i was hoping someone can help me ???

A full tank a day for 1.5 hours driving

Do you have a blown 454 big block in the Datto???

Geez, my A15 powered ute runs very rich and I get a whole week of 45 mins each day to work and thats fanging up into the hills on the way home.

I'd be checking for leaks for sure!

5000 rpm at 100kph is a bit high too. A new diff ratio might help. Your ute should be 4.11:1 but it may have a sedan centre in it 3.9:1.

Jack it up and check - that should bring the revs down. Mine sits on 4500 rpm at 120pkh.

yeh all utes have the 4.11:1 centre in them (if it was made after 1974...)

the sedan diff centre is not interchangeable with the ute one, from memory i think the sunny, or maybe a bluebird (or some other car) had a H165 at 3.9:1? can some1 confirm this?
anyway if it had a 3.9 then it would rev less.

i would replace all the rubber hoses that carry fuel to the engine and rebuild the carby, setting float levels and that again.
then new set of plugs followed by a check of the base timing.
new air filter will help dramatically too.
