i found a hi-lux at the wreckers today here is the info from it

model- RN41R-JRO
Engine- 18R-C
Frame- RN41-******
Trans/axle- L40 G102

it was

2ltr 2wd
built 10/1982
Eng No 18R21*****

and the diff seemed to measure roughly the same length as the 1200 diff

so is this the unobtainable hi-lux diff that should be gotten or what???

and where would i get discs and lsd centre from if so???

u want the larger hilux diff which comes out of the 4x4 hilux.. comes with drum set up...
i have heard u cant get lsd for these diff's no more as my mate BELLA has got one in his ute and diff specialist said they discontinued making LSD for the 4x4 hilux
the hilux diff will need 2 be shortened..

ive been looking into the same swap. the toymods forum has heaps of info on the subject.

from what i have found the RN10-27 2wd lux diff is about 1370mm wide, the RN40 onwards is 1410mm wide. so the RN10-27 seems to be the go, i think they were pre 78 or so(the twin headlight models).

apparently any hilux lsd will go into the housing, splines are the same.

r31 skyline discs go on with a bit of machining and redrilling of the flanges.

i cant link to the page so do a search on toymods forum for 'live rear hilux', heaps of info.
