What is the best 4 speed gearbox to put into a 1200 coupe with an A14 engine without
too many modifications???

celica 5 speed? thats what i'd do if i had the money, and thats what all my friends do. Or a sunny 5-speed, if you can find one.

You'll need to buy a conversion bell housing to fit the celica box to the A-series, which you can pick up for about 600 bucks, but it's worth it, you'll never kill the celica
box, trust me =)

If you can settle for a 4 speed, you can install any 1200/120y or sunny gearbox, however personally I'd go for a sunny box since they are generally newer
(less k's on them).
Those a14 pulsars (n12?) are front wheel drive so you can't use the gearbox out of them.

The Pulsar N10 has the A14 (S) and dog leg 5 speed. They are front wheel drive but every Datsun fan should own at least one as a tribute to the furtherest extent of engineering that
the A series was taken by the factory. With that in mind I'd be happy to sell mine to help out a fellow Dat head - although I haven't asked my Mum yet. It's mechanically A1 too -
mostly because Lump_a_Linc has never driven it.
