hey all - the new engine appears to be running a bit hot - it is an a15 too. it replaced an a14, so does that mean the radiator is a bit small? The guage gets to about 3/4 temp, but hasnt boiled yet, there again i havent been in traffic jams much either... I took out the thermostat, flushed the block and radiator with a hose (and some stuff from a bottle), the water level isnt dropping, i am running about 80% coolant too. I will try what ian suggested, flushing the radiator from the bottom end tomorrow... So, has anyone had cooling problems after putting a big block a15 in, with an a14 radiator? (its in a sunny too.) Should i use Fanta instead of regular coolant? Linc.

You probably need to put a new thermostat or restrictor to slow the coolant down so it has time to heat transfer from the radiator.Without one, the coolant will go through the radiator so fast that it has no time to cool down.Good Luck.

Never had a problem with the A15 overheating and that is with the A12 radiator. This is with no thermo fan and the radiator doesn't need to be full and yet it still stays cool, and yes the motor is worked.

I took out the rad, and reverse flushed it, and a heap'o'crap came out, but there is still more stuff stuck in it that i can see, but not dislodge. I may try some coke in it, or take it to a mates rad shop. But since flushing it , it is running a lot cooler, barely above normal temp. thanks for all help.. Linc.

linc, I'm having the same problems too with my rebuilt A15 - and had the rad chemically cleaned and all. I'm suspecting the thermostat is ok as in light traffic it's fine, but in heavy traffic the temperature goes up to about 3/4 - then the water starts to boil. I've swapped rad caps witout success. My rad has an overflow reservior, and although that and the hose to it are ok, it doesn't push the water into that when it gets hot. I've tried reflushing my radiator, but I've busted myself up on a trailbike and can't do anything about it at the moment.
