Anyone on here actually deliberately set out to build one?

I'm thinking that due to my utes paint work being so dodgy, and due to my lack of funds, time and patience to strip it all down and get it resprayed, i might just spend all the time and money that i do have on performance.

So far it's going to get a big strut and brake upgrade, 2 inch lowering and a freshly built JTS special a14 twin 45 mm webber carby engine with a new sunny smooth case box. When tuned apparently can produce about 130hp.

I was thinking though of just letting the paintwork go to ####, leave the tray scratched and dinged with sections of surface rust, leave the old school dash etc etc. Then when i take it for a cruise through western sydney where i live, i can whip the f*#ckin s*&t out of all those wanker lancer, mazda 3, and bodykitted v6 vl-vx commonwhore pussies out there and make them realise that they spent 10, 20 or even 30 grand on their cars and they get whipped by some dodgy looking 30 year old datto that i spent about 5k on!!!

Sound like a plan or should i still take the time to try and disguise the poor paintwork with layers of polish, a ute liner and tonneau, new chome, new rubbers, new windscreens, polished rims, all new coupe dash, new bucket seats etc etc.

What do you guys think?

DO IT, DO IT NOW. Sleepers rock, My mate got cocky in his old AUXR8 ute a few years ago. A sh_tbox gemini with crap hanging off it, multi colour panels, stock rims, stock sounding exhaust ETC pulled up next to us at the lights in Liverpool one night. He looked at us, me mate and I just shook our heads thinking this blokes DREAMING, the lights changed green and it was on. The Gemini picked up the front left wheel in first, second and third and left us in a cloud of tyre smoke, we went home with our tails between our legs.

My only tip would be to make it look just NEAT, not a complete bucket of puss.

GO THE SLEEPER

Dunno bout that coupe being a sleeper. Being so low with such a nice finish would make me think twice about running it. Anyone who spends that much time making it look so clean and neat would have something going on underneath.

Probably the only misleading thing would be the wheels and whitewalls. If it sat higher and maybe had some venetians you would definately think it was a granny spec that was well looked after.

Very nice for the price though. Someone scored a bargain!!!

Apparently there was an ex-taxi VN Commo up in Newcastle that ran a 383 stroker Chev. It still had the multi colour cab duco and 15x6 steelies but was capable of tens (though not on 6in wide tyres).

The bloke built it to kill WRXs, which that combo undoubtedly would.

And in Datto related stories, I had a Unique Cars mag with a write up on a 13BT 1200 Coupe. It ran on 13in whitewalls, granny spec white, venetian blind and knitted seat covers. The photo shoot was at a lawn bowls green, complete with bowls hat on dash.
