hey everyone ,ive got a 1200 ute with an a15 with the following
twin solexs malpassi fuel reg crane fireball cdi ignition carter fuel pump (huge) stock dizzy with crane pickup and shutter wheel
when i drive my ute it will suddenly just cut out for no reason ,at first i thought it was too much fuel pressure but its set at 3 psi. Then i thought it could be not enough fuel because it would empty the bowls ,but when it cuts out it just stops instantly instead f slowly dropping power and then stopping
could it be the crane setup ? although i sat in the car today and held the revs up to about 2000 rpm and watched the diagnostics led thats on the module to see if it was dropping out ,and it kept flashing till the motor stopped turning so its not that
ill be putting a pionts setup in it tomorrow and seeing if that fixes it ,also need new flywheels bolts again ! the genuine nissan ones i bought came loose when i gave it a fuken hiding and it sheared all but one bolt :S so i then bought ARP bolts and they came loose on the first test drive ,which is when the car stalled
messured the bolts today and there too lng ,there 150 dollar bolts and i cant use them !!! they were loctited in and torqued up and i drove probly 2km before i heared a slight noise and it then cutout
and after being told to shorten the bolts on the grinder ,i found out that sodtens them and they are no longer usable ,so now im gonna get some dirty old flywheel bolts and wire them in
cheers

ill take a pic of the broken genuine bolts and the split harmonic balancer !
yea it split the balancer along the keyway slot and then threw outwards and destroyed the front main seal

Is the flywheel lightened? The purpose of a flywheel is to dampen out vibration and that's why they are heavy. A light flywheel is OK until you go over about 7500 RPM. But even the stock bolts are good when used with threadlocker. No need for a harmonic balancer.
What did you torque to bolts to?
ARP doesn't make A-series flywheel bolts. Some have suggested using ARP bolts for the 4AGE, but unknown if they work correctly.
Here are is an idea: Could the bolt holes in the crank be too shallow? Perhaps the Nissan bolts bottomed out as well? Or maybe the flyweel flange is too thin (machined incorrectly)?

Grinding the bolts should not lose their temper as long as you don't get em too hot eg: to the point of glowing or discolouration. As long as you take it nice and easy, 2-3 seconds at a time and keep some cold water nearby to cool them down regularly, should be fine.

Or part them off on the lathe
Lockwire is usually unnecessary... but mines done that way Factory bolts

You tried the arp so no refund now on them, try to shorten them or get them done

Yea when I shortened them I just slowly did them in 2 to 3 second bursts ,i then dropped them in a cup of water
Sucks balls ,im sick of buying gearbox oil hahaha
Yea dd me and mike noticed that they have got a machined flat bottom on the bolts which must mean that arp dont make a specific bolt for the a series
Yea im running a datsun comp spec flywheel and it hasnt been machined on the crank or bolt faces
Did the bolts to 60ftlbs with thread locker this time ,its all back together now and while I had it apart I put a spigot and throwout bearings in it ,the old spigot was nice cos a 3/8 drive short extension could be used as a clutch allignment tool ,but the new one wont fit the extension in :(
Yea thought about wiring the bolts in but arp bolts would be a pain to drill ,when I get time and once I buy some 6mm bar im going to dowel the flywheel to the crank

Also, anyone got an idea as to why my motor keeps stalling ,i started it tonight and it was fine for about 5 minutes then it just stalled ,ide then start it ,it would idle but touch the throttle at all and it would splutter and stall ,carbs are getting constant pressure (3psi) and are running awesome
Could it be the coil? Or the crane ignition ?
