is your 1200 manual or auto? if its auto it will be easy, if manual bashing will be required.

Xmemba you can go through Andrew Deniss (Ca18det_man) will make you a top xmemba for your CA. no sump modifcation.

hardest bit is wiring and electrics AUTO sparkie!

to fir the S13 5 speed manual in you can to make up a gox section where the shifer comes out which is moved further down and the nandbrake needs to be moved basck as well. To avoid all this go with a auto tunnel but use a Stumpy Skyline box, the shifter comes out where the standard hold is.

Cheers
Damo

Yeah, tell us MORE.
I am currently looking at the possibility of using the '81 to '86[?] skyline box [L engine] & placing all the internals into a Series 3 Bluebird case with integral bellhousing, or perhaps a Pintara case, but i will examine all avenues before buying two gearboxes to make one.

Is this '81 to '86 model Skyline box the "stumpy one refered to?

I can handle a small setback of perhaps 3" max [75mm] but would much prefer to use the original gear lever hole in my 1000.

The series 3 Bluebird box is about 145 to 150mm longer than the original 1000 / 1200 box from bell face to the gear lever pivot pin, & thats about 6" which is way too long.

The stumpy box comes from the MR30 skyline, not sure on the exact dates
there is 2 options for mounting it up to a CA18.
One is use the S13 5 sp manual bellhousing,
or use a Series 3 bluey bellhousing (CA20 bellhousing)

Some people have had weird problems with using the S13 bellhousing, saying that one of the bearings aint the same but I found when I did my conversion is that the bearings were the same size.

Cheers

71C boxes use larger bearings and shifter rails. Use the ca20 71B box.

I keep seeing the word "bellhousing" yet i have not seen any of these boxes with a detachable bellhousing. All i have seen is transmission cases with integral bellhousings.
Are we calling these transmission cases by the name that applies to just the front part of it? [The bellhousing]

Feral
Just to make sure i get it right. I take a stumpy Skyline gearbox assembly, & remove everything from the trans case. I pitch the case into the "storage container"

I take a series 3 Bluebird trans & do the same thing, except i keep the case & "store" the rest.

I fit all the stumpy internals into the later case to make a short 5 speed that will better fit into a 1200 or 1000 car by placing the gear lever in, or near to, the original shifter hole.

All these parts fit together perfectly.[?]

So far so good?
Chris
