Well its been a long time coming but here's my official build thread. I started on this thing back in 07, bought it in 05 & it sat waiting for a while till I tackled it so I started with this...







did lots of patches & welding...









Finally got it stripped down to the metal & did some dent pulling...





the roof had lots of dings & I metal shrunk it to get rid of the oil canning effect then filled & sprayed poly filler - Featherfill G2







Got it into epoxy both on the bottom & top, bottoms black & staying that way, tops white epoxy..









then I built a motor, a 5 spd., readend assemble, struts, & tons of other crap...









thats my stock 1200 radiator recored w/a 3 tube core & a camry electric fan mounted w/a sensor..



my rebuilt struts..



did a little plastic repair & painted w/SEM hot rod black in satin...



finally got the base coat on..



then the clear today 3 coats, will need sanding then another 2 coats, cut & buff then maybeI can find time to assemble it all back together...
















this was a massive amount of work but worth it & I've enjoyed the process but I'd like it on the road so I better get my ass in gear! Hopefully this'll inspire some of you to keep going, I know it was threads like these that kept my interest at times.

great work, if i had a garage id try some of those rust reapirs a bit more confidently.

is it a14? or a15. i noticed top alternator, mid mount dizzy but never seen an a12 with the extra pipe for the coolant to the heater core.

Thanks for the encouragement guys! You know the rust repairs aren't that difficult & they can be done in a driveway, carport, backyard, doesn't really matter. I hadn't done any welding in 20+ years till I tackled this car. Its the painting thats got to be done inside,it becomes really tricky creating proper ventilation & keeping it clean enough so you dont end up w/a bunch of cr*p in your paint & clear.

Heres a pic of my paint exhaust door & the blower outside - its a re-engineered woodshop dust collection system, pulls 1800 cfm.







the motors an A15, mildly built, H72 oval port head w/double springs, reground mild street cam, side draft & header, bored .030 0ver, engines out of an 80ish 210. I'm anxious to get it in there & see how it goes.

I also want to get this project finished so I can get this one on the road...

Nice build. Even better to get some more motovation from it! Love how everything is clean and looks well built. Love a good side project, maybe I need some sheet plastic ,an extractor, some talent and I can paint my car.. nah .
I like the look of your dolly setup, do you find it ok with moving frontwards/backwards?

man i wish i knew how to panel beat stuff properly, the welding is all good but getting rid of dents is not so easy...for me anyway
