Can it run a V8 distributer cap and eight leads?

Just kidding.

Hi sidedraught

YES - this ignition can run a V6 or V8 - no more points problems and - one switch you choose Normal or Electronic Ignition .

I have the new chassis for soldering the parts now - The material costs about 50 US$ - in a week must be ready then I

Some four-cylinder datsuns have electronic ignition with caps for eight leads, like the S110 and the 720 trucks.

FAZPIOES, this sounds like a great solution for high-energy spark, but if it still uses points how does it eliminate points problems? Won't they still wear out eventually? The first factory electronic ignitions used points, and the points lasted longer than normal, but still had a service life.

it was a low idle emission after 2000rpms it only used four plugs.

POINTS WILL LAST FOREVER ( until the small piece in plastic that makes open points lasts )

1- Points work as the electronic sensor that gives induction to the system - so no wear .

2- The original induction coil sends sparks at > 30.000 v .

Electronic ignitions that still use points have been around for many years, but not swichable selective types. They all suffer from the same problem.
They trigger the ignition function at the moment that the points open, but this moment changes, in relation to the position of the crank, as the little plastic rubbing block wears. This means that, with a new set of points, the timing retards quite noticeably in the first 5,000 to 8,000 K's This wear rate usually slows down after that, but it still wears & the timing still retards over time.

The beauty of both Hall effect, and opticly triggered ignitions is that they do not suffer from mechanical wear like points do, which is why these systems are sometimes refered to as 'set and forget' ignition systems.
Many years have now passed since these systems were first used and they have proven to be very reliable, so they are rightly regarded as being effective, maintainance free and reliable to the point of boredom.

The contact point faces in points triggered electronic systems will indeed last a very long time due to the much lower current passing across them, but it's the rubbing block that will let them down in the long term as the points gap and the timing will still need periodic checking and adjustment.

sorry my english - splits I mean spark plugs with 2 or 3 "electrolits" = sparks

With this system - I keep original points and the condenser stays just in place without working - and with a switch I change from electronic ignition ( in case of a fail ) to the normal way .
Having just one of this - I may use it at all my Datsun

Thanks for the update & your English is fine. I just wish I could speak, or write, almost ANY other language even half as good as you do with English.
Hell, even George Bush has trouble with English, [His words, not mine] so do not lose sleep over it.
