How many of these are left in AUSTRALIA
B10 UTE DELUXE ONLY with( up grade to a1200 motor from factory ...... maybe even with the standard 998 motor .......BIG RED DATSUN BADGE ON THE GRILL with the d right in the mindle look's like supa man's first badge design
I have seen three or four passing in opposite direction's I'M heading in colour's (red 'white black
Tring to get idea on who's got bit's be it from the other side of oz eastern state's or from the black stump in the middle of didubringabeer counrty...
Main problem why built such a sick car and use crappy aluimiun sphere for the diff ....unlimited tecknoledge.....no common sence (3.95)ratio. centre is not heavy enough for boat anchor but heavy enough to tick you off when she's growling down the road at any speed
Any one got the finger or brain's to point in dirrection for correct speck's no guess work allowed

Jamming the 83/4 diff L.S.D in this week end (shorten and strengthened) went with ford rear brake setup
First 9000 rpm go till ya blow happening about 12 pm will have the neighbour's jumping up and down (bloody pensioner's)
if their lucky I'll only use three gear's instead of the four (first gear is for kid'z)

I'm trying to get a grip on what you have here, & what it is that you want, so help me out.

1. You have a B10 [Datsun 1000] ute
2. It is a DeLuxe model
3. It has a 1200 engine that was factory fitted.
4. Maybee it is the standard engine of 998cc
5. It has a badge in the middle of the grille with a 'D' in it.
5a. You pass other Datsun 1000's going the other way. There is a red one & a black & white one.
6. You are looking for parts, but forgot to mention which parts, except for the 'factory' tarp. [which doesn't exist]
7. You don't understand why they used aluminium for the differential "sphere" & in your view, the original engineers had "no common sense" [But you do]
8. This differential has a 3.95 to 1 ratio.
9. Your diff makes noises when you're driving & this is caused by the aluminium construction [& not by 37 or 38 years of use & abuse.]
10. You want someone to point you in the right direction for the correct specs, but you forgot to mention what you want the correct specs of.
11. Oh yeah, you want to know how many are left in Australia, but forgot to say if you want to know how many utes, or just the DeLuxe utes.

Let me see what I can do to help out.

Edit
OK, I'm back. I hope that this is of some help

1. The Datsun 1000 ute is correctly known as the B20. The sedans are B10's, vans are VB10's & coupes are KB10's
2. The B20 came from the factory only as a standard model. Previous owners may have added DeLuxe model parts though.
3. No production B10 or B20 was factory fitted with the 1200 engine. A 1200 engine might have been fitted under warranty [I doubt it] or later on, but not at the factory for retail sale.
4. The standard A10 engine displaces 988cc, but your error is probably just a typo.
5. The badge that you describe sounds like a standard Datsun 1000 grille badge.
5a. It's good to see that there are some still out there. Be sure to give them a wave.
6. If you let us know what parts you need, some of us may be able to help out.
7. The hemisphere in the diferential is made of cast steel. Its the differential 'carrier' thats made of aluminium. Aluminium was used because it helped keep the unsprung mass of the rear axle assembly light. This in turn allowed ride quality & general performance to be as good as it could possibly get in this kind of vehicle. The strength of aluminium is more than adequate for this vehicle when used in its intended role. They were clever little fellows those Datsun engineers & they had more 'common sense' than you give them credit for.
8. The standard diff ratio for B20's was 4.375 to 1 with 4.625 to 1 as an option. 3.95 to 1 was never used in these small Datsuns
9. If the diff is noisy, it's possibly because of, overloading, [excede torque rating] abrasive contamination of diff oil, low diff oil, excessive abuse, normal wear & tear after a long service life, or any combination of the above.
10. If you let us know just exactly what specs you want, i'm sure that you will get all the help you need.
11. As for how many utes remain, well I don't know the answer to that, but there are still enough about to keep us all happy, & since the factory didn't make any DeLuxe ones, I guess the answer to that one, is zero.

Hopefully this has answered some of your questions.
Can I suggest that you hit the 'prieview' button before you post again & proof read what you write. Just add a few punctuation marks here & there so that your text is more readable & understandable, then my replies can be shortened up a lot.
Thanks

Ahh, the phunk is back to continue his personal vendetta again. It's only to be expected.
What's the problem phunk, gone off the medication? Bit of a slow day, so what the hell, you'll give someone a bit of a kicking again? Do you actually go and read all the posts looking for someone to bore it up, or is it just one victim you have in mind?
You could try actually contributing, and lead by example, or is that beneath you? Come on, show us how it should really be done, or can't you manage that?

That's the plate in my ute b 10 the b 20 stated b20 on the plate (which don't exist)
diff centre's have had a bad name with datsun drive line's alway's have I've been repairing dato's for 20 year's not this age or vintage but
datsun as I stated are SICK WEE car's just got lazy in some design's factor's
This is also seen with every other car make and model
I could be here all day stating who's screwed up where
Couple question's answered but not all (common sense would say it stuffed up in that model we will not use it again in this one) you not gona use a blind man to tell you when turn when you can't see the bend inthe road are you.... that aint common sense
To break it down 3.95 to 1 was the centre (that's how the drama started) nun around
some nerd put the mini van design in (what van no idea) some mechanic found the centre
when it drop the side gear pinion
I could not find any bit's to re build the center
and the b20 ute diff is totaly different the hand brake cable lay out is different also .. flange to tail shaft same as 120y check it out I did vernia gauge and all (1200 diff is two inch's longer)
(1 inch extra from were the spring jion's the axle housing)
picture 427 same same but in ute design
1200 rear different different
I got ripped buying three different 1200 diff's complete and center's in the vain hope one would fit (tail shaft 8 mill longer toin the 1200 to the 1000 design) axle's are longer to .......

Yes, as you point out, all car makes and models can have differential problems. From my experience, Datsun diffs are just as reliable as any other make, if used as designed, they practically never break or wear out. If bigger engines are fitted, then yes they tend to break, just like other makes.

B20s don't exist? Do you say that just because the government stamped yours as a B10?

With a 3.95 ratio, it sounds like someone fitted a non-Datsun-1000 axle housing to your ute.
