I have some problems with my 1200's electrical system.. These are it's symtoms:

Wipers have allmost no power
Headlights are dull and when flicking to hi-beams its very slow to change over..
When headlights are on, idicators do not work...
When headlights on, brake pedal lights up back 2 indicators - all indicators normal when lights are off...

The wipers and headlights have allways seemed liked theres not enough power... I have tested these with full battery and engine running... So im not really sure where the lack in power is coming from..

Any ideas anyone?

If your battery checks out ok,make sure all your body and chassis grounds are good and clean. There are two main body grounds coming off the main wiring harness. One is under the dash and the other is on the inner fender well on the right side of the engine.

Yeah bad earths are often the problem with these mystery electrical situations.

Also with the dull headlights, Set them up with a relay and run power straight from the battery to the lights. Use the original power wire to signal the relay. This will give them a bit more juice!

I would fix the earth that from memory is located on one of the right side tail lights mounting bolts.
Plus the headlight relays as previously stated, to help brighten your headlights.

Thanks all - problems solved!

It was the earth wire at the back! I bolted it on and all things now work properly! The headlights still seem a little dim, but i'll save that for a rainy day..

Sunday I noticed the battery ground cable was loose from the engine. I tightened it up and the problems are gone. It bolts to the front engine housing, so I'm suprised but many of the timing chain cover bolts were a bit loose. The one for the battery cable was very loose.
