hard starting 1200

g,day
my 1200 is very hard to start when cold , it turns over about 20+ times with the choke on before it fires, after it reaches operating temp it starts with first turn of the key it idles at 750rpm , rev,s fine timing is set at 6 degrees by timing light new plugs points and leeds i have tryed 2 carbs still the same problem float level is 1mm just below the dot on the sight glass i am thinking electrical maybe something is not operating properly until hot....HELP.

Make sure that the choke butterfly is actually closing when you pull out the choke knob. The butterfly is controlled by a spring & if the shaft is stuck, as it was in my son's coupe, you only THINK that the choke is working. A little WD40 & some working the butterfly back & forth freed it up & everything was sweet after that.
