Msd means "Multiple Spark Discharge" it's an ignition system that delivers several sparks instead of one single spark, Check MSD Ignition for more information.

It is true, when the oil gets too hot the timing chain makes this noise but only when the engine is overheating, oil is not ok or your timing chain and tentioner are not ok, i have experienced this a couple of times. First be sure that your thermostat is ok and your engine is reaching normal operating temperature, because if it's not what happen is that the mixture is not burned complitly and the resting gas ends up in your oil, and this will cause this problem, obviously change the oil and filter, check your oil pressure and if the sound doesn't disapear then change the timing chain.

You can check vacuum leaks by spraying a little carb cleaner over the suspected area while the engine is running and if rev speed changes then it means you have a leak, and i agree with the idea of using the new gaskets i also tried to make my own gaskets and it brought me a lot of trouble. good luck.
