Just a quick question to those who have put an A14/15 into their 1200s.

I've got a temporary solution on mine....but looks a little ugly. What solutions have you come up with to make the neat and tidy.

Because the reg and the coil are now on the same side of the engine bay it gets a little crowded on the drivers side.

Yeah I've seen a couple of people running that approach - I was just feeling to lazy to drill a hole in my firewall.

I'll sift through some photo albums...or wait for the cruise next weekend.

Blue Coupe is getting painfully close!

Try to source a couple of parts today...without success (hence the whole wreckers thread).

My task list is down to real little things now too (except for the windscreen) and that I'll just pay someone else to do.

I'm hopeful of next weekend....just the problem of driving an unregistered car to sort out then.

If you want it real clean:

Go with an internally regulated altenator.

Get rid of the ballast resistor.

Move the battery to the boot, remove mount.

The altenator bracket looks a little close for comfort in regard to the battery anyway. . .

Next build maybe?

Good call Cable_Tie

I should have access to those sort of alternators...hadn't thought of that. Next time I revisit this I think that's a great idea.

Get rid of voltage reg, ballast resistor and battery makes for a real nice engine bay.

Thanks for the tip.

I replaced my alternator with an internally regulated one, but I still have a ballast resistor, What determines if you need the resistor or not?

I thought you'd need it for the ignition coil.....as my coil say on the side - Do Not Use without ballast resistor.

I think there are coils you can buy that do not require the ballast resistor (like if you go to electronic ignition)
