HI guys
I have checked out the tech section and cant seem to find any info on the size of the rear drums that are STD on a 76 1200 ute. I need to get at least 230mm size for engeniring any advice would be greatly appreciated

THe 1200 ones are wimpy. Use 180 Wagon Drum brakes.

I am full of good info.

is using the TRX disc conversion an option? will the 180 wagin drums bolt up? i know where a set of trx discs and claipers are available. let me know if you want to look ito it more and i can get more info for you. your in sydney right?

yeah im in sydney thru the day and wollongong at night.
I would be interested in the TRX disc brake conversion what $$$ do you think it might be. I am about to order the R31 set from datsport for the fronts ( I will have a complete 120y disk brake front end for sale shortly )

The 180 wagon drums fit directly onto the H165 ute diff. No mods required.

is that the drums only or do you need the backing plates too? would this be the same size as a h145

You need the backing plates, you can also use H165 stuff out of a stanza, same size, 200b i think as well. Then you could use Z-Car alloy rear drums to help with overheating.

Yeah, drums and backing plates

- wheels off
- back off brake shoe adjusters
- pull drums off the diff housing. You might need to use a 8mm bolt through the drum to get it off.
- get brake shoes off, don't lose any bits
- pull off handbrake cables from backing plates
- undo the brake lines to the backing plates using a 10mm spanner.
- undo the 4 bolts that hold the backing plates onto the diff housing.
- Using a slide hammer or hammer, pull the axle and backing plate out of the housing in one piece.
- pull the axles through the backing plate, and leave the axles with the car.
