My mate did this conversion about 7 years ago and has since sold the car. It to was in a ute and it used to rip, I had a 180B that ran low 14s and the ute used to pull away from it no dramas. 3rd gear Helis no problem. If you have any specific problems i will pass on your questions.

I to was looking at putting a SR20 in the ute but after talking to a few people I have decided not to go for that type of engine as I have been told they are prone to breaking alot of cams due to lack of lubricating resulting from the oil line in the head that blocks up (so I have been informed) and that also you will have to recess the firewall a couple of inchs to accomodate the size of the engine thats why I have decided to go for the CA18 insted, they are cheaper to purchase (approx $750 for a non turbo and $1200 with turbo) and you dont have the hassles of recessing the firewall, one of the things that need to be done in to change or modify the engine mounts and thats about it so I've been told but yet to be found out as mine will be done when the money is there.

yeah i will problay go for a ca18 sounds abit eaiser. i just knew a guy who sold his ute with a sr20 and it flew like kills mostly anytihng of the line.

but a $750 no turbo CA18 is cheap. so what about Fuel injection how hard and costly is it to do for the ute?

with a standard CA18 i shouldnt have to change diff and drivline?

750 would get you the motor but you really need a half cut for wiring and computer ect. thats a bit more ca18det half cut = 1800 non turb not sure
