ok well thanks for everyones input ,
ill be looking more into the engine a bit later,
getting a bit of advice from an engine rebuilder,

so anyway so that i can continue on a need to do several things and spend a bit more time and money under the tray that i painted last weekend ,

so first i need to get the axels back in,now to that im puttng new wheelbearings on,and before a can do that i have to tidy up the backing plates etc,

so today heres what ive done
preped and painted the backing plates, axel hubs, and various other parts.....heres a few pics,

note the state of the backing plate before i fixed it up..........

i've been told that the heads of the a12,14,15 are interchangeable and the heads off a lager motor offer a decent improvement in power. maybe heresay would like to know if its true.

just one more opinion on the engine. Backing up what other have said.
Instead of going the rebuild and a few bits on the a12. say screw it and just replace with a15/14. so easy and would be some much better even stock then the a12.go the a15 bro.

that sounds good. go a14. dont have to have engineer in queensland. more buyers . i love your work mate. just wish i wasnt such a slackas* knob. i would do mine. ohwell. just get the rust cut out. that will do me. if i had the money that this thing will generate i would buy it, would be an awsome ute. keep up the good work mate.

so in they go ,and after they were fitted i filled the diff up with oil ,but quick storey here
the oil i got didnt ccome with the hose thingy in the bottle, doh!!!
so i had to make my own dodgy set up as you can see from the pics below!!!!!
i used a funnel and a small adaptor for the funel to fitt a piece of oil cooler hose that i had lying around!!!! haha go go gadget hose

anyway it worked took a few mins to fill but yeah,

so after the diff was filled i went around touched up a few bolts and the hand brake cable was fitted and then i also fitted the spare tyre frame with nice new clips ,so thats just waiting on a new tyre and wheel to go back under there,,,,,,,

after all that i wanted to have a break from rolling around on my back for hours and hours so i had a quick look at the interior,

pretty messy surprise surprise,

so a quick strip of the remaining parts and wiring got alot of it cleared out,
also had to remove the old steering wheel,
awfull thing it was and the steering coloum,
possibly shortly going to shart sanding the interior and prep for priming and get it all tyded, few small rust repairs here and there ,actually quite surprised about the little amount of rust in this thing, after all it is a 1972 ute and hasnt been treated too well from the looks of things ,but not to worry,

also the small board thingy with sound proofing that goes on the inner firewall behind the heater was totaly stuft so i will be rebuilding a nice fresh one with nice fresh materials,

so any way heres a few more........
