Hi everyone,
I am a new member and I just purchased a cherry 1978 Datsun F10 (with 30k original miles!!:D

I have a few questions - I would really like to drop it for a more aggressive look - are there any shock/spring setups that are available or am I going to have these fabricated? If fabrication is necessary - where can I go? I live in Orange County, California.
Next, I would really like to give the car a bit more thrust - and I would really like to do it with the engine. Again, are there any sources that offer a stroker kit, cams, pistons, etc. or will I have to have fabrication? What is the potential of this A14 engine, with everyday reliability? Thanks so much and I am excited to be a part of this community.

Welcome to the Datsun 1200 Club!

We know a fair bit about the A14, but not much about the Nissan "Cherry" fwd cars like your F10. There are a few 100A fans here, I think they are a Cherry also. Maybe some Pulsar parts (Cherry N10, N12) might fit?

Are you sure thar the engine in your F10 is a A14?? There are not many shock/spring options, yhe easiest way is to shorten your stock shockabsorbers and find a suitable stiffer spring, Volvo 142 or 360 may fit. If you have a A14 engine in your car there are many easy ways to improve performance and I have never seen any problems with everyday reliability if you don

Nissan Motorsports still lists camshafts for the A-series engines. I don't have my catalog with me but I'm sure they have a header for that car too. A side draft Weber/Mikuni, or two, will give a lot more top end power with the pooible loss of some bottom end torque. I'm not sure what kind of space you have for them though.
There has been much discussion on cutting springs elsewhere in the posts. Long story short: Australians say buy aftermarket and don't cut the springs, I say I've never had a problem with cut springs. Make a decision from that.

Now, what I would do is get an engine and transmission from a Sentra SE-R and force it in there. But that's me.

Man,
you guys are great! I really do appreciate the feedback. To be honest, I am not completely sure if my F10 is sporting an A14 - I will doublecheck. I will also look into aftermarket springs and the Nissan motorsports offerings. By all means, I will still very much appreciate additional suggestions. Once again, thanks a bunch!! I will keep you guys updated.

The F10 sold in the US 1975-1978 or thereabouts, during which period the only A-series engine (US) was the A14. Anyways you can check the engine ID mark as discussed last week. Let us know what you find out.

Dave - thanks so much for the information. I will contact King, but I have one problem;
I don't know their phone #, location, or even what country they are in. I will perform a websearch on them, but if you do have the information I would greatly appreciate it. Muchos Gracias Senor!!
