Hello eveyone,

First post here and I have a question. What dramas if any are there likely to be in registering a currently unregistered 1978 120y with a14, mild cam and dual hitachi SUs?

What would I have to do to register such a car, apart from a RWC?

I used to have a 76 260z and I seem to remember that something about pre 75 cars having to have all their emissions gear intact, and that aftermarket carbs were (technically) a problem.

it would be alot easier getting it registered with an a12 then just changing the enigne number over, i dont think they really care to much about the engine work and carbys f its not the first rego

generally if you have a roadworthy and a receipt for the car then you should be all good, all they did with all the cars my brother has got registered is go and check vin and engine numbers

this was at a vic roads where i dont believe they have pits, so they cant inspect anything there

Thanks pigdog,

What do you mean about it being the first rego? It would be the first Victorian rego (previously regd in NSW).

The motor is not original is that likely to be a problem? Which vic roads doesnt have pits?

first rego, as in been unregistered for a while so getting re registered

dont really know about the non original engine, can just do the whole "needed a replacement engine and this is what the wreckers gave me" trick, but then you need a reciept for the engine

geelong vic roads dont have pits, i dont think anyway as they have never done more than send someone out to varify the engine and vin number

if you can get the roadworthy done with the a14 in the car then every thing should be sweet
