I just want to thank the founder for having this club. I have been looking for a place where I can ask Q's about my car and see what else is going on. I do have a Q about motor oil.
I have a 72 1200 2d sedan w/ the origional engine. What type is the best weight oil? Anyway, have a great work week.God loves you!

Welcome to the 1200 club. I have never seen a 2dr sedan up close since we never got them here in OZ. I would love to import one over here. Anyway, about the oil. These engines can run
almost with out oil!! The basic 20w 50 oil should do the job no probs. Thats what i used in my A15 the other day when i changed oil. If your rings are on there way out u may want a slitly
thicker oil. Oil really depends on your engine. If you have a old shitter engine, any oil is good. But if you have a worked A14, obviously you would want a really good oil for it. Hope

Thanks for the info. I have an A12 under her and yes, the rings are about shot. I guess the thicker oil will do. I have the whole car gutted and redone inside. When I
get the pictures developed, I'll post them.

Being that I see you are in Pheonix it would not
be unreasonable to run 40 wt oil but if your engine is kinda fresh the 20/
50 should work well.

What do you mean by "fresh". It burns some oil so I suppose the rings are a
little worn out.

The oil burning you get is most likely from worn
valve seals or worn valve guides. These engines work a long time without much
ware on the rings.
The 40 or 20/ 50 will be okay.
