sectioned the hoop and moved it about an inch rearwards

L18_B110 didn't say the crossmember was lowered or even sectioned lower ... it says sectioned to move rearwards, with the mounts welded on lower ... can you clarify if the x-member was also sectioned lower?

The GX bonnet doesn't have much of a bulge, see the Fibreglas GX Bonnet picture.

the x-member is not lowered. L20B fits under a standard bonnet with no problems. You could do it without sectioning the x-member, and modifying the sump instead.

to answer datto_dave's question, the 120Y diff is stronger. Everything else is the same - ratio, width, and it bolts in (need the 120Y tailshaft).

I have fitted a L20b in to a 1200 and to do it I turned the engine crossmember around so the brackets for the engine mounts pointed back instead of foward. then I recessed the firewall back so I had plenty of room up the front for an intercooler.
I made up engine mounts which got the motor down rather low and just modified a datto 1600 sump to fit, I also put in a 1600 auto trans tunnel and there was heaps of room but it all took stupid amounts of time to get right and the ca18 set up is much simpler, and in the long run cheeper.
Ive got a pic of it some where Ill try ti find it and scan it

P.S these noodles are really nice, I must get some more

get "mi goreng" noodles
and drain the water out before you put the flavour in (not too much chilli, if any, its hot stuff)

then and only then you will know what 2min noodles are all about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These noodles wouldn't be "bunny" flavored, would they?

I've only just opened access to everyone to the L18 conversion page. It was blocked cause its no where near finished. It has a few errors and is kinda messy. Just havent had time to fix it all up. Been busy with studies and assignments. In Fact, thats what im supposed to be doing right now, gotta go!!
