hello does anyone know of any good engineers in perth who could pass my datto 1000. Talked to someone last week and got quoted $600 just to look over it which sounded a bit pricey. All the pits picked up was the engine increase ( a10-a14) and the wheel track at the front has been altered because of a disk brake conversion only need to bring the back out about 15mm each side but . Hav been thinking bout putting a 1200 diff in but might just try some spacers on the back to get it on the road and worry bout the diff later. any suggestions appreciated cheers

Yeah got it of a bloke in waneroo a couple of months ago think it had been sitting there for a while and just been slowly working on it. Its a 69 wagon but its had the back windows welded in so it looks like a panelvan i love it. Just rebuilt the carby up put different jets in it recored the radiator tuned it up a bit now she runs like a datto should like a shower of sh*t . Im getting another a14 head and manifold cleaned up at the moment. Been a bit busy with work but so havnt had time to get it licensed but now i got a bit of money it shouldnt be too far of.

In relation to you putting spacers in the back to have the rear track wider, I don't think they would pass roadworthy.
Sounds like a neat looking wags though with the rear window filled in

My wagon passed the pits with disc brakes and A15 no dramas when I got the sticker
Guess you just got the wrong guy on the wrong day

I plan on doing the 1 piece steel panel myself eventually on my wagon

$600 is about right for an engineer to look at
Though I don't see why they actually need to with the setup depending on what brakes have been fitted

Try Romeo Hilleran ..... he's on the approved list and is probably the cheapest I think

maybe il just try my luck at the pits again do they keep records of cars that dont pass or that they need to be passed by engineers? I didnt see why they wouldnt pass it either disks seem alot safer than the drums. I really need it on the road. Is ur 1000 wgn licensed with the a15 ?

Sure is
I had the papers filled out for the change of engine # when I got the sticker
The guy just had a quick look at the mounts and said no worries
When he had it on the pit he looked at the front and said "oh look nice new brakes and suspension"
That was that

First time... piss easy
