Hey all.
I have asked a couple of questions before regaurding spring rates etc.
I will be getting in a coilover weld on kit from ground control from the USA to use on my coupe struts to go onto my wagon...
Now i understand that a few of you on here have used this before and any help from you guys is much appreciated.
I will be shortening my struts at the same time so i am in need of some shorter shocks. I have heard somewhere that you can use 240z shocks...
By how much are they shorter?
also do they fit the b110 struts without any modification?
are 240 and 260z shocks the same (dia and length)??

does anyone know the internal diameter of the coupe struts?
i am trying to order in the kit and chop and fit as soon as possible so as much info as i can get the better.

Many thanks

Chris

i'm not 100% sure but i think you might wanna ditch the coupe struts.

the standard 1200 struts are a skinnier strut tube and i don't know if the 240z insert will fit in it. you'd be after some stanza struts and lower control arms and steering arms. the common strut diameter is 51mm (pretty sure thats right) and so i'd be surprised (unless you specifically asked for them) if the ground control kit would fit a standard 1200 strut.

easiest way to do thing is, find your brakes you wanna run, work out what strut you need... 180b 200b 1600 stanza r31 all use the same diameter strut tube the 1200 has littler ones.

then buy your shorter insert and mod the strut to accept it.

ground control make a specific kit for the b110/b210.
linky
I am going to mod s13 4 stud brakes to fit the coupe struts.
It has been done before so i think it'd be better than messing around with the suspension and steering geo etc by going with other struts.

I will be using s13/14 camber plates and coupe struts, ground control coilover kit, s13 brakes so all i need to sort out is shocks.

i'm not sure i'd spend the extra money for the gc coilovers as they're identical to the generic sort

cool, the only prob you may have is finding a shorter shock to use in the b110 strut.

it is very very important to find shorter shock and shorten your struts as if you lower your car at the cost of suspension travel it will ride on the bump stops a lot of the time and handle like a bucket of puss.

the component parts are almost identical to generic (cheaper) coil over setups

the fact they sell kits for particular cars is sorta misleading (unless you've got a porsche or corvette that they make specific bits for)

also, unless you're racing in a class and the organisation forbids changing struts, i'd get something thicker diameter so you can run shorter length inserts that won't bottom out and have more travel

Still keen to know some specs on the shocks and the inside dia of the coupe struts.

Anyone done the 240 shock into b110 strut thang yet ?

Hey
Yes i have found a shorter shock that is 60mm shorter than a standed 1200 strut. 120y struts are the same and your are able to get a bigger stub axle on the later model 120y which would be stronger
These are the struts i make up and fit the 180sx brakes to. The brakes are a little rusty as the need a clean up again.
