Hey guys

im looking at getting my ca18det 1200 ute engineered in adelaide soon..

wondering has anyone got one done in adelaide yet?

or even a 1200 sedan or 120y..

if so who did u use??

i got a quote from a rory thompson guy here.. and i think he be cheaper to drive with it out engineerd..

HERES THE QUOTE

Hi, for Datusn info Barry Burns at Datsport has much more than Craig at Maddat. Need a chassis torsion test $850 to prove chasis is OK for the extra power. If it needs strengthening, retests are $450.Need brake fade and lane change handling tests we do at Adelaide raceway. Mytest cost is $375 each, AIR charge $440 to hire the track. Also noise test $95, exhaust emission test $95. Haver it on a chassis dyno to measure actual power, most charge around $100. Final report on test results and other modes like wheels and tyres, seats etc $450. So not really cheap/ To start, I need to inspect the car and submit an application for a statement of Requirements from Transport SA. fee to do this is $250. Hope this helps, Regards Rory Thompson

WHATS UR IDEA ON THAT PRICE?

cheers, Ben

$2655 for all that and that's without a retest. Sounds like he isn't real keen or hasn't done one before so he is just trying to quote over the top. Gees thats steep

Speak to doug potts. This man does prettymuch everything in the way of engineering of modified cars. I will get his details and post them here for you.

Cheers. Adam

I have delt with both rory and doug....

Take the quote rory gave you to doug, and he will most likely do it cheaper...alot cheaper...

Rory himself is a good engineer....but i think the people he gets to do the work arent up to speed....

Rory engineered my soarer. Regency rejected me twice because my CSR's (Child Safety Restraints) werent in the right spot. I took my receipt and car back to rory, and he said it couldnt have been him that put them in the wrong spot.... must have been someone else, even with the receipt with chassis number on it? pissed me off......

He fixed it, but still was headache paying for another 2 inspections....

And my intrusion bars looks pretty average....

Go with Doug Potts, never had any issues with him...

Crzy_1200_ute, Go for Doug, he did all the engeneering of my 1200ute CA18DET, and half of the stuff you mentioned above doesn't need to be done.
To get mine done, it cost about $1600 and i got mine passed first time through Regency. Heaps of Maddat kits have been engeered and approved around Australia, and Doug knows all the products as he has given us reports on most of them.
