wow thats clear as
thanks for that
heeps better.

any idea where the white wire to alternator comes from

i cant seem to find it

done some testing and
the original negative colour wire gets 12v when i kick it

and so does another plain black wire

all the rest seem good

except

when i turn reds on the parkers go on

and still no blinkers

no dash light

no low beam

do you have a diagram of the fuse box.

i plugged in anywhere and now i dont no what needs what fuse

so i need
colour wires=position=fuse type

and also
would alternater be bridged to main power lead to starter

where does the main alternator lead go
as i have battery in back now and alternator on other side of starter motor

diagram below is different to wiki 1
but makes more sence

The white wire from alternator goes through firewall and then splits in two. One goes off to the key and the other feeds the fuse box.

Not sure about other questions you raise. Bit confused.

However under the dash there are two plugs and sockets which are the same. Check they are not mixed up.

Your main power lead from batt should go straight to starter motor. The other lead on the original batt loom under bonnet goes from batt pos to the regulator. It is a white/red. You could take this wire from regulator down to starter and put it on terminal with batt lead.

Try and get diagram from manual and enlarge it to at least A3. Makes it so much easier to follow. Not sure on original alternator, regulator etc as I removed all this with my CA conversion and re-wired.

uh, not actually. There is an important distinction to make.

The alternator main output wire (large White wire) needs to go directly to the Battery +, through a main fuse. A branch of this circuit goes through the firewall to the fusebox (white) and ignition switch (white).

SIMPLIFIED WIRING DIAGRAM
Less confusing? Sure, I have never seen a diagram like that, it is simple and clear. No repair manual has one that nice. Where did you get that? Is there one for the 1200?

I got it off a friend... Unfortunatly theres not a 1200 one that i know of.

I used those for my internal reg and SR conversion and Im pretty sure the colours used on the 1600 (510) were the same.
