Cant wait to see the finished product! top effort.

Any specifics on what needed to be changed to get it engineered? or should I just wait till later when you've finished.

Update, I have had a good couple of weeks working on the ute, i finished making and welding in the larger trans tunnel, it turned out real nice.
I also spent hours scraping and wire brushing the under side of the floor pan, and gave it a spray with body deadner. Its a real crappy job to do, but the results are worth it.
I have also been working on the other components needed for the conversion, like the remote reservoir for the clutch master, just waiting on parts to trial fit. I'm also working on designing a custom adjustable sway bar to clear the sump and pullys of the SR. We get a few bars made for our conversions, so it wont be to much hassel.
This weeks job is making bolt in roll bars with side intrusion bars, im trying to make them as descrete as posible, they will be painted body colour to blend in.
Things are moving along ok, but time is passing very quickly and there is only 110 days untill i have to leave Adelaide to head to the Nats, But we will make it.

Progress photos soon

Scott

Cleaning the underside of the body is a crap job! Especially when you dont have a hoist... I do agree though, deffinatly worth it!
Great work Scott! Keep the updates coming.

I received great news in the post today from the SA department of transport, its the Statement of requirements for the SR20DET into the 1200 ute. It gives me the nod for the conversion, including the Mad Dat 280mm front Disks, adjustable coil-overs, adjustable cambertops, adjustable caster rods and adjustable lower control arms, R31 diff, and 17inch wheels.
I still have to have the engineers report including results from a lane change test, brake fade test, idle mixture test and exhaust dB test.
All in all this is standard testing in Adelaide for any engine conversion, and normally will cost between $1500 to $2000.
Because i now have the approval in principle for the conversion, my CA setup is for sale. I have placed a add in the classifieds in the fourm.

Slow week on the ute tho, i have stuffed around with making a roll bar with side intrusion bars, but it took some time to get the tube curved to the same contour as the roof line. Its done now so i have to finish the remaining tight bends and weld her up.
It is going to be mounted tight up around the rear window, below the drip rail, and run down through the hard top lid. It will be bolt in with removable side intrusion bars.

Next week im planing to finish the cage off and start on the body work.

I know of a 1200 ute road legal with an Fj20DET. Apparently he got it through due to the GVM the ute is allowed to carry. BTW the FJ in this ute has in excess of 450hp and he drives it to work every day. It also has a 9 inch and 4 bar link setup...amazing stuff.

The FJ must have been a nice and tight fit.
