I just finished fitting an E15 electronic dissy, i done everything that was required and it started first go.
I reset the timing to 10deg adv as i had it before and it idled and revved beautifully.

I reversed out of the driveway and put it into gear and went to accelerate and it died. No coughing or spluttering, it just went dead.
Started it up again and all seemed right until under the same condition it happened again.
I was told by a mate driving behind me that it was running a lot richer that normal when accelerating.

I gave it a little less advance but that didn

i'd say it would be something in the wiring. an electronic dissy should give a nice strong spark and shouldn't have anything to do with it running richer at the same timing. maybe pm beattie as he's been successful with this conversion

mmm might be the answer to my high rpm stutter.

im running e15 electric dizzy too.. never had the problem until high rpm at full load (drag strip) and if idling too long (couple of mins)

thought it might have been not enough amps/power from alternator but havent tested that thoery yet.

I've checked the timing and everything looks right. I tried more & less advance & it didn't make any difference with it cutting out.
The running richer was due to a little to much adv to begin with so that not it.
I thought it might have something to do with the carby idle mixture but i had a tinker with it and didn't help.

Could be the battery as i was told that it was on the way out.
Still doesn't answer the question to why it only does it under load after you take your foot off the accelerator. The revs just drop straight off!

Any other ideas?

Did you delete the balast resister and change coil? Sounds like its getting sfa spark maybe. Get a non balast resist coil and try that (make sure you byepass the balast resister when you do)

i've checked all connection with no luck
i tried different ways of wiring it, still nothing
tried without ballast resistor, nope

the few things that i have left to try are:
- use coil out of the pulsar it was taken from
- check car battery and replace if needed
- replace the dissy electronic unit

It could be caused by something completely different, maybe the idle circuit in the carby?

its very strange because it drives great otherwise, no hint of any other problems

if any1 has any other ideas please speak up

thanks

Maybe the anti deiseling solinoid in the carby? They are prone to failing. You havnt knocked the wire off it accidently have you? Try a search to see how to check it.

i'm running a weber 32/36 DGV with no solenoid.
it was running great before i swapped the dissy.

all i did was take the old one out & fit the new modified one in.

the wiring was done as previously mentioned.
except that i also used the original black wire that went from coil to points for my earth on the body of the new dissy
remembering that the new dissy came with it own wires therefore leaving the black wire otherwise disconected

WHY THE HELL ISN'T IT WORKING!!!
