just been wondering for a while what option would be best weight wise after reading something that said that the CA18det weighed less than a z18t
and im guessing an L18t would weigh about the same as the z18

so if anyone knew the weights of these engines with or without accesories or knew any sites that might help it would be much appriciated, even an educated guess would be a start

They would all have to be pretty similar mate all iorn block 1.8's with alloy heads maybe the ca is a bit heavier due to an extra cam? If your planing a conversion go a z so i can know of 1 more on melbourne roads

CA18DET = 128kg

I thought I had Z18ET weight....but don't.

I'll dig around.

A15 = 93kg by comparison

FJ20ET = 166kg

L20B = 137kg

SR20DET = 149kg

Hope that get's you started.

so shave a half inch of deck off the L20b block and you would be close to CA

are those weights short blocks or with manifolds and such?

trb012, what is the difference block and bottom end wise between the L series and the z18t? are the Zs any stronger?

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's short block (including manifolds) as the CA18DE = 113kg.

Nope zs basically same bottom end as l with zed pistons apparantelly having more of a dish to drop cr. Z pistons no longer avaliable everyone just uses l18 no probs. What sort of l setup you planning i have had tonns of boosted l experience if ya want info or just buy my setup haha. L heads flow heaps more than z heads too and easy parts

I've got the sheet of weights at work - but from memory the SR20DE is about 15-20kg lighter than the DET....similar to the difference between the CA18DET & DE

Now if someone wanted to start a wiki page about nissan engine weights....this would be a good start
