Through the continuing good graces of one of our US forum members, I have now purchased these for my KB10GL.

For street use, they will offer absolutely no advantage whatsoever to the rear brake performance, but they are not particularly common & they are the factory competition item as best as I can tell, so naturally I had to have them. Worse yet, I just had to tell everybody. WOOHOO!
Just another part to include in the overall specs of 'My Lovely' [does it ever end?]
Thanks once again Matt

KB10 parts from the US

So they arnt off another model or something? Like 240Z finned drums? You could polish em up too to look extra wanky

At 8" diameter, they're not off another Datsun/Nissan model.
No, they're the comp items as far as I know & they are coming 'via' the US, not 'from' the US. Remember that all the B series cars used these smaller brakes so they are good for B10, B110, B210, & B310 models that used the H145 & H150 rear ends.

The 240Z drums will fit the larger brakes on the H165 rear ends I believe.

As for polishing, ..... hmmmmmm, big job as the alloy looks to be rough gravity cast [coarse sand mould] & it would take a LOT of work. Perhaps black with polished fin tops.
I'll wait untill I see them before making any decisions.

Datsun Competition Dept supplied it's favoured teams with many experimental parts that were never sold over the counter. 1200s had alloy drums ...
So not regular "Datsun Competition" catalog parts...

Like these PB110 GX drums:

EDITED for simplicity.

According to all the parts books that I have, or have access to, the standard rear brake drum, part number 43206- 18000 was used on ALL models of the following cars.

B10 All models from Oct 1967
B110 All models
PB110 Excellent All models
B210 All models
PB210 Excellent All models including the PB210 1600 GX.
B310 All models. [this entry edited as a result of input from Kelmo. Thanks mate]
There was no 'PB310 Excellent' model.

As can be clearly seen, the drums in the picture are NOT PB110 GX items as they were the same as all the others.

There are no brake drums listed at all in any of my factory competition tune up manuals or competition pars lists for B110 & B210 models.
If they were ever offered as a sports option part, then it would have been in the B310 catalogue. [which I don't have].

The drums in the picture below are identical to the ones I bought.

Does anyone have access to the B310 parts books?
There was never a 'PB310 Excellent' model as the P prefix used in this model denoted the use of the A15 engine in the regular B310 range & the 'illustration' in my factory B310 workshop manual shows the standard type drum.

Hey, good find Dodgeman, I've been trying to find a source for these for some time without success. Do you mind weighing one cause I'd be keen to know how much weight they save over cast iron drums.

Dodgeman,
Add the B310 (USA model 210 from 02-78 and up) to the list of cars that take
a 43206-18000 for the rear drum

Thanks Kelmo, the earlier post has been adjusted to reflect your info.
It looks like one drum was used from B10 introduction in late 1966 untill Sept. '67, then a new drum from Oct. '67 untill the end of production in 1982 for ALL B & PB models. That could be good to know in the wrecking yard one day.

Now all we need is someone with a factory B310 Competition Tune Up Manual, or a factory B310 Competition Parts list to confirm that these drums are, ... or are not, included in these lists.
Somehow I suspect not, but need confirmation.

When they arrive, I will weigh them, separately, to get a drum to drum variation.
I do not believe that their purpose-in-being was for weight reduction, but for more rapid heat dissipation since it is heat that kills drum brake performance. [brake fade]
If there was a weight reduction, then it would have been an unintended bonus I believe.

For street use, particularly the way I drive these days, their only real use now will be, as has been pointed out, ... the wank factor.
