1.2 block and a 1.4 block swap

Question for anyone. Can I make a 1971 b110 1.2 engine block into a 1.4 by gutting out the block of a 1980 b210 engine block and sending it to the machine shop to have the pistons fit the 1.2 block? My b110 engine smokes and I have a 1980 b210 parts car. I'd like to take the two engines and make a working 1.4. the 1.4 block has a hair-line crack by the freeze-plug. Otherwise I would just swap engines.

Short answer is nope, I'm fairly sure that the A14 is a higher block and has a longer stroke than the A12.

However, I'm not sure if you can bore out a A12 to take the A14 pistons or if they will fit... probably better of getting new ones anyways...

EDIT:

You can not swap the A14 reciprocating parts (pistons, etc) into an A12 block, but you can use the A14 crankshaft as part of an overall larger capacity rebuild.

Taken from Wiki article (found on the main menu to the right). Go and have a read there is answers for almost all questions...

actually there is a way, you can use a14 crank, a12a rods with con rod wirost pin hole enlarged for the a15 pistons. relief will also need to be machined into the bottom of the bores so the crank doesnt foul on the block.

Thats the basic but im sure dodge will add the full and corrected story

Yep, I was just about to edit my post to say that there is a conflict in the wiki, a few lines later it says:

Yes, you can make a 1400cc A12. It's lighter than an A14 and fits the B110 better using the original block.

But not all A12 blocks can be bored out that far ... need to have the block sonic checked.

Dodgeman has done this modification once or twice. Makes a sleeper A12 engine.
