Hey
just wondering if anyone has ever used mini/sprite/mg Su's on a datsun a series.
I was thinking about using some 1 1/4 mini su's off a 1100 a series on a datsun 1000 A10.
Do you think it would be neccesary to change needles. They are similar displacement and have similar characteristics.

I was thinking of tigging up a nice stainless manifold

I think that the english SU is about as good a carby as you could get for that old school effect. You might get lucky and track down an old round port manifold to suit. You see them turn up from time to time.

I've got a set as you mentioned, but haven't yet got them up and running, I think they will pretty much be a plug and play kinda deal..

This was a popular conversion for a long time & Lynx made the D 1000 manifold for it.

I have owned three of them & gave one away, so they are around & they can be found & purchased.

I've got a set of the type shown. On a lynx manifold for a series. Not sure if oval or round port though. Can check if your interested. Don't have the funny looking air cleaners though. Brisbane area if interested

The funny air cleaners are OEM from some BMC p.o.s. so don't worry about them.

The Lynx D 1000 manifold itself was made without provision for a PCV valve, so is road legal only on the engine it was designed for, the A10, however with a sensibly executed mod a PCV valve can be fitted to make it legal on 1200's & later round port models.

Lynx made another manifold for the 1200 that did include the PCV valve but I must confess, I have never seen one.

had a look at the su's and manifold
The manifold is a LYNX D1000 and is round port with no provision for a PCV valve. It can be done however as dad had to do much the same thing with the weber manifolds on his torana. The su's are 1 1/4 and look the same as the posted picture. They are however missing a few pipes and will need a little work to get going. Would probably have the hoses on other su's that we have lying around. Only problem is if your wanting to buy I'll have to convince dad to sell them. What would they be worth? Would put pics up but how do you reduce the size of the pics. All the photos we take are too big a file

Use a small camera...

Use the software that comes with your camera to "resize" the photos. 640x480 (1/3 megapixel) will usually fit on most web sites.

For more details on this, see: piccy
