the diff head from a bluebird wagon should fit. They came in a 3.9:1. The utes have the 4.1:1.
Although the series 3 bluey's have the larger H190.(or so I'm told.) The easiest way is to fit wheels with a larger rolling circumference.

Well if you're putting a turbo on it you've pretty much answered your own question.
If you are talking about 'in the meantime' maybe purchase a weber downdraft 32/36, get some extractors and do some work to the cam. Then upgrade the diff so your ratio's are a little more reasonable. Putting bigger wheels would definitely help things along.

So of course if you reduce the RPMs by changing diff or larger tires, the tradeoff is slower acceleration.
The A12 is designed to rev all day at 4500 rpm, so no worries about that. Depends on what you want. The ultimate solution is a 5-speed: keep you acceralation through the gears while having the overdrive gear to reduce revs. You can view topic.
