heya's all, First, I just repainted my rocker cover......CHROME! It looks wicked!! Anyway, to the point. Did 1200's come with LSD's at all? Coz my 1200 sedan, perfectly stock, seems to have an LSD (although i dont really know exactly how to tell the difference). But when i spin the wheels, both tires leave rubber on the road. I thought this only happened on LSD's? Although, i could be wrong....... thanks -Jesse

Hi Jesse, The standard differential did not have LSD. Datsun Racing had an LSD that a person could order for the 1200 housing. When the car is balanced, it is possible to get both wheels to burn rubber evenly. Jack up one rear wheel and put it in neutral, if the wheel spins, it does not have posi trac or LSD. If it only spins part of a turn but not all of the way around, it has LSD.

I had a 120y that used to smoke both wheels sitting in one spot. As soon as u goto creep forward or goto chuck a doughnut the inside wheel just picked up and no more sliding :( So, i ended up welding the diff to thrash in the dirt and easy burnouts. Another easy way to check if u have an LSD. Jack the back of the car up, spin a wheel, and see what the other does. If the other one spins the same direction, its and LSD. If it spins opposite direction, its an open wheeler. later Scott Davo

ahhh.......kewlies =) thanks for the help. The diffs in datto's rule! Even if they are not LSD. I can lay rubber with both tyres, until the car goes sideways, but then i have to ease up, coz i'm restricted to my driveway, and i come extremely close to hitting the fence =( I showed my friends my chrome rocker cover today, and now 3 of my friends have asked me to do theirs for them, hehehe. I put 4 layers of etch primer under the top-coat, so the paint shouldnt peel or anything for quite a few years =) cya's
