Saturday just gone a few mates and I went down to the new haunted hills hillclimb track near Morwell. For all you melbournians you'll know it was a spot on day for racing and the new track is a corka!

They gave us all a few sighting laps because there is so much change in altitude as well as I think 3 blind crests. One of them particularly has claimed several cars in it's short existence so they fittingly stick a $ sign just before it to remind you!

The track was technical enough that everyone's times fell nearly every pass they did as they gained confidence. Obviously the most of the 4wd fellas blew us away but I had a good little bit of competition with our fellow member LAGWAGON in his 1600 with him ending up with a 1:01.3 to my 1:01.6.

Here are a few pics, more to come as well as some video.

Looks like you had fun. A mate was there the previous weekend in his IPRA Torana hatch and said he had a ball. Apaprently pretty tricky in a 500+ HP car on skinny IP tyres! I see you've got Firebase on the car, when I get the next variation from Jake at least I know it will be supporting a Datto!

Yeah Firebase sponsored us for the PI 6 hour team event. He was great to offer us anything considering the event had no coverage and not that many spectators!

Do you know what sort of times your mates Torana was doing around it?

Daveman I think he did a 60sec run. Not sure how competitive their day was, it was more a social event for their series sponsors, supporters etc. The way its setup is probaly not ideal for hillclimbs. Last year they had the day at Morwell and I think it needed a forklift knob on the steering wheel to wind the lock on quick enough!
