Does anyone know if it's possible to fit the standard CA18DET gearbox in a 1200 tranny tunnel?
I've heard that it's too long, but why would that be a problem? (i know the engine will fit, I just don't want the hassal of
finding a different gearbox!)

I think it fits with no probs. Andrew Deniss has a CA18det in his 1200 and he never had any probs. Im pretty sure he was using a manual 1200 to(smaller tunnel). Nothing a bit
of bashing with a hammer wont fix.

Ah, yes
Andrew does have a CA18, but the gearbox is a stumpy skyline with a
CA18 bellhousing...

A standard CA18 gearbox will fit into 1200 tunnel only problem being that the gearshift would be back about as far as middle of handbrake. I have the Skyline stumpy box in mine. Only
one way to really find out how it goes is to try it. A freind how has recently done this conversion reckons you can turn shifter around so it comes more forward!!! This seems to be a
very common conversion now When I first did mine I only knew of 2 in existance now everyone seems to want one :)Bye the way I have just fitted up My huge front mount intercooler with
toyota 7mgste Injectors and copper headgasket should be pumping some seriose hp next monday on dyno :) should have aprox 320hp with 18psi :)

Hi Andrew-
I think you're right, I'll just have to try it and see. Ps that's a lot of horsepower....you must be
spinning wheels in third!

Justin I still have not got it running with that setup all my plumbing is made I just have to Get brakets welded onto intercooler and bolt her up also a few mods to lower beaver panel.
As for the HP its lots of fun when it had 270hp it would spin in 3rd :) run 12.4 @110 with wheelspin should hopefully run mid high 11s Its not really drag car anyway I have a 2 day
race meet next weekend at bathurst Im looking forward to doing well

I made a new Intercooler its 400x400x57mm core size I will be using the 3.3 diff on weekend as 4.6 would be flat out over 500 mtrs I had car dynoed today running
15psi with new intercooler injectors and 3.3 diff it produced 230 hp at rear wheels :) That equates to approx 300hp at flywheel not bad for a midly worked 1800cc
engine
