hey guys

as i am just off my ps i know where you are all coming from.. i had a job as a courier for veale auto parts. it lasted just over a year (i left to work on the spanners). i know what you mean by speed kills and #### but it is not always the speed that kills...for an example 6 months ago my uncle was killed(accidentally) when a truck pulled out in front of him. my uncle was doing 50 kms on his motorbike down an industrial road on his motorbike.the truckie didnt see him at all... now look this guy was doing what 10/15 kms over the speed limit... have yous thought about him going down a hill at all or somethign like that??? everyone who drives cars loves the smell of rubber burning off the tyres and hearing a turbo winding up or a v8 rumble... there are so many different things that could have factored in him speeding so im not going to take sides...

hope that made sence cause basically what i am saying is speed doesnt kill...we kill by not paying attention.

have a good day.
joel.

My My , lot of very uninformed people are voicing there opinions...

I know John B quite well. I spent a week with him in Tassie last year & I can quite honestly say he's one of the most experienced drivers I've ever driven with
(And I driven with quite a few).
I know the section of road where him & Rob were booked on very well as I've lived in the area my whole life.
It's a nice, fairly smooth open piece of road where visibility is VERY good & as such higher speeds are attainable very easierly.
The fact that there was a radar on that road (where I have never seen one in 20 yrs) smacks of a tipoff to the police...
His car in question is a HEAVLY modified GTiR Pulsar (AWD for those not in the know). It's got a reasonable amount of power,
with a heavily developed suspension package & brakes that could stop a Jumbo on a 10c piece. It's also running 'R-spec' tyres so grip is not an issue...
It is far more suited to high speed road driving than the local traffic police's SS Crumpledoors...

Was the 170kph attained by John irresponsible in that situation? I personally don't believe so.
I also believe that the comments on here made by people who DO NOT know the circumstances are grossly arrogant & uninformed.
It's always easier to point the finger when it's not you...

At the end of the day though, in the eyes of our 'Nanny State' gumbyment he's been a bad bad boy, so he's been made an example of...

Lurch you can wrap it all in a nice package and try and present it to people even though you know inside contains a doo doo. The fact is he was breaking the law (Speeding) and thats that. Many of us are guilty of it at some time in our life but hopefully we get it out of our system before we hit our 70's and go and do it in an environment where its required in order to get a trophy. Thats why many of these things are called a CRUISE.

joel this is why many of us give up bikes and there are so many more cars than bikes on the road, u get sick of them driving straight into the same peice of road as u and saying they didnt see u.

the old guy im sure regrets his moment of stupidity and should be the first one to set an example to take the need for speed to the track.

i fully dont know how you can justify your words lurch?? who cares if he has the biggest and best aftermarket accessory on his car he's breakin a law. race tracks are there for a reason. "JUST THE DAMN CRAPPY GOVERMENTS NEED TO START LOOKING AFTER CAR ENTHUSIAST AND MAKING MORE TRACKS NOT CLOSING THEM DOWN"

how can speeding be ok even if he has been driving since the first car, who give a #### speeding is speeding. Laws are in place for people to follow, other wise imagine every tom dick and harry doing 170kph on these stretches of road.

ha ha ha i reakon sucked in to him and yea i know we all do a bit over the limit everynow and then like old mate said no ones perfect late for work, quickly beat the orange light, and these are just dangerous too just its easier to see a person comming at you at 60kph than 170kph.

and this is comming from me, a bloke who has no licence till march :S:S:S:S:S:S:S but not for speeding or D/D it was dangerous operation of a motor vehicle lol never again :S:S:S:S:S but still a stupid act :S:S:S i learnt and im 23 this wanker is 70's no wonder we dont respect our elders these days, when they have no respect.

far out lurch, its because of c0ck smokers like yourself and your GTiR boyfriend that 'REAL' car enthusiasts have such a bad rap.

good, if he is going to do those stupid speeds then he deserves everything he gets.Quote:

again, your a dumb #### head to be calling us uninformed and arrogant because your trying to defend your sugar daddy for blatantly breaking the law and thinking he is better than it.
rules are there for a reason, if you dont like em, buy a pushbike.
