Hi Linc,
I already have a factory console in Mareo Speedwagon VI. It is an automatic model that came with the console. I had to remove the center plate shifter to put in the dogleg trans shifter
and I used a boot from a car at the wreckers that fit real nicely. I don't remember what car I took it from at the wreckers but it looks good. I wold like to put the automatic trans
back in it. The automatic trans is quicker and faster than the four or five speed in the 1200. The five speed gets a lot better gas milage.

To quote Ricky Ricardo, "Lucy jou got some splainin to do!" I was always taught that an automatic had so much parasitic loss that manual transmissions were faster. Is this not the
case? Is the Datsun auto really that good? I'm only asking for information because even if you could convince me they are better, I'll never own an auto. I'm just pigheaded that way.

Every stock Datsun 1200 automatic that I have been around was much quicker than the stock four speeds and faster on top speeds than five speeds. The stick may get it off the line but then is
quickly passed and never can catch up. The automatic is internally geared more of a close ratio than the sticks. The two automatic coupes I have had would top out at 107 MPH. I could only
get the four speeds to do 101 MPH. My sedan four speeds would only do 94 MPH while my neighbor's automatic sedan would do 99 MPH. I have never liked automatics very much either, give me the
stick controls but I want an automatic with a built motor just to see how it will work.

I have a friend with a mig welder and he is going to help me build a twin downdraft Holly intake set up. I liked the twin downdraft carbs in the photos section. A twin sidedraft Delorto
sysrem would be nice but I already have the Hollys on Datsun manifolds. All I have to do is heliarc the manifolds into a workable configuration. This is to be a street machine not a racer.
