I can't 100% confirm (since I don't have data for rb20 pistons) but the rb30 piston has a 21mm pin, compared to 17.something for a12 a-series or 19mm for the a15 (not sure a14??) - so no way that it would fit, and that's definitely too much to machine the rod little end out to fit, it'd be too weak to hold. Generally they keep most things standardised across an engine family, so the rb20 pistons _probably_ have the same pin diameter, but I can't say for sure.

Also - of massive importance for a turbo/supercharged engine - the thicker the bore walls, the less they deform under load, and for really high boost, you can actually make more power with the smallest overbore, even though the engine will be smaller in capacity vs a maximal overbore.

is it true that you can get 77.5 in standard oversize pistons?

Forget standard I got a set of high comp cast pistons (60thou over)for a decent price. Should have heard what some of teh places were saying when I asked for those specs, one bumclown at Autobarn said they'd have to get them custom made in America....and it'd cost $3000. Haven't had a chance to run them yet as I'm waiting on teh head but I think they'll do fine. As for the piston sizing and specs there was a chart on a pulsar forum about this sort of thing that was quite useful but I can't remember which one.Open in new window
